The Clinton administration's interest in an international agreement to combat global warming also dovetailed with Enron's business plans. Enron officials envisioned the company at the center of a new trading system, in which industries worldwide could buy and sell credits to emit carbon dioxide as part of a strategy to reduce greenhouse gases. Such a system would curtail the use of inefficient coal-fired power plants that emitted large amounts of carbon dioxide, while encouraging new investments in gas-fired plants and pipelines -- precisely Enron's line of business.

I think GE took over the effort to promote Global Warming for business purposes.
I know this is kind of old, but it reveals that Enron bought the Clinton administration and made up the whole global warming scare for its own profit.

And we all know how difficult it was to BUY the Clintons....
Think back to the Enron 2001 failure. Congressional DemoncRATS sank Enron. Enron courted the demoncRATS through the campaign contribution coffers. Late fall before Enron crashed, there was a special clause or an amendment put in the budget to benefit several corporations with Enron being one. Apparently, Enron needed that protection. That clause or amendment was either stricken or never passed. Enron subsequently failed.
It’s not about “global warming” or “da enviomen”. IT’S ABOUT MONEY. OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY! It’s always about the money.
It’s also where James Hansen got his start.
At the beginning of the first Clinton administration, Enron was four-hundred-seventy-something-th on the Fortune 500. At the end of his second administration, they were, if I recall, in the Top Ten.
Those were really good years for Enron. But then, shortly after Bush came to power, everything collapsed somehow, even though Robert Rubin was making Godfather-like phone calls on their behalf to the rating agencies.
I shut a liberal up once who was going on about the Bush-Enron corruption with this actual timeline.
