Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei offered no concession to opposition supporters who are demanding the elections be canceled and held again.
He blamed Great Britain and Iran's external enemies for the unrest, vigorously defending the ruling system in his first public comments since supporters of challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi flooded the streets.
"The enemies (of Iran) are targeting the Islamic establishment's legitimacy by questioning the election and its authenticity before and after (the vote)," Khamenei said.
During the address to a packed hall that included President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Khamenei said that if the Iranian people did not feel free they would not have gone to the polls in such huge numbers as they did during the June 12th election.

Some student at our college posted it, and I left the comment to only let the 2 countries that supported McCain vote because of the economics of tax cuts providing a better economy, our students are learning the hard way...
Barack Obama 87.3% (758,041 votes)
John McCain 12.7% (110,103 votes)
The ones that supported McCain;
Macedonia, the Former Yugoslavian Republic of
Albania
Niue(only 1 vote cast)
The Supreme Leader just spoke in Iran, and was televised on TV (Im watching CNN, as I was watching a rerun of Lou Dobbs and then just as his program was ending and Anderson Coopers program was about to begin and I was about to turn the TV off, they came in with breaking news and the Supreme Ayatollah was on speaking to a bunch of his brownshirts and paid thugs (just like Hitlers SS AND SA). He is blaming everything that is happening in Iran on the U.S., the Zionists, the Europeans, and others for stirring the pot over in Iran and causing the demonstrations that have been taking place for the last 6 days straight. It appears that Mousavi, contrary to the Supreme Leaders demands that he appear with the Supreme Leader as a show of solidarity, is not there. Hahahahahahahah.
Oh jeez, now some of the audience are crying, as the Supreme Leader whines about being handicapped, and pleading with the crowd to back him. Saying he gave his life to the revolution. Asks for support and prayers of his followers. they are all standing and waiving their fists and saying they will give their life to the cause of their leader. Earlier the crowd was chanting Death to America. Hes done now. Now hes hobbling off stage, to show how handicapped he is. He was speaking at a University. Went on for 2 hours. They only televised the last part, the grand finale. The first part was the spiritual part. Now Christiane Amanpour of CNN is analyzing the speech. Says the Supreme Leader blamed the arrogant world media. Said worst offenders were the British, then the U.S. and Obama (hahahah), and said the idea that a velvet revolution like in the Ukraine was happening in Iran is a mistaken view of the West.
Said about election, there were differences among candidates, differences of view. Says should not think election was counter-revolutionary. All 4 candidates could put their viewpoints across. Praised Rafsanjani (former leader who backed Mousavi), which is odd. Trying to molify the opposition with feint praise. Said street demonstrations must stop. Must use legal methods, otherwise those out on streets will be responsible for the consequences (veiled threat). Says how can you talk about cheating with only 11 million votes difference. Says challenges should be taken up with Guardian Council. We shall see what tomorrow brings. Will there be more mass demonstrations by the opposition? We will soon know.
Riots in Iran....Dear Leader in NK ready to kick the bucket....fly killed in WH.
I wonder why Albania and Macedonia were so pro McCain? The only other countries that were even close were Georgia, the Czech Rep, and Israel which each gave him around 35%.
Let’s see if the opposition blinks. We’ll know in a couple of days.
All eyes on the TV and watch the tweeter messages....
You forgot to mention ObamaCare. Does ObamaCare?...Heck no....
The mullahs are toast.
That’s right, Iran did not rig the voting. They faked the results. There is a difference.
Well now we find out if it all was about which figurehead represents the “Supreme Leader” or if the underlying issue is the “Supreme Leader” himself.
The “Supreme Leader” drew the line. If Iranians accept it, then it was all about the “elected” figurehead.
If they defy the “Supreme Leader” then there is hope.
Hmmmm. He didn't mention the Great Satan. I wonder why?
Good catch!
This will make Obama happy. How sad...
Just as predicted. It’s just like the Obama administration investigating itself for wrongdoing and then finding itself innocent.
Shame the UN is composed of such a bunch of pantywaists that they didn’t even OFFER to make sure the election was fair...the way they did in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Where’s Baghdad Bob when we need him!!! FoxNews needsto pick up his contract...Might be a ratings boost from the BS from Geraldo...
Heck I’d watch it for just the entertainment value it brings...
Man, if I was that mayor guy from Tehran, I would be beating feet out of there...

“The enemies (of Iran) are targeting the Islamic establishment's legitimacy by questioning the election and its authenticity before and after (the vote),”

I heartily concur with my lord and master.
Like he was gonna say anything else? He sounds JUST LIKE freaking OBama blame everyone else and order up things his way or the highway.
“During the address to a packed hall that included President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad”
Target-rich environment.
You don’t need to apologize for watching CNN. When you’re wanting breaking news, particularly international coverage, they have more “boots on the ground” and are consistently much better than other outlets.
Well thank god they aren't blaming the US. After all we want to be friends with all the power mad megalomaniacs in the world particularly if Jimmah Cartah had a hand in setting up their political system.
If anyone runs into old Jimmah, please thank him for the people of Iran who continue to suffer for decisions he made during his disastrous presidency.
look at the US on that map, where almost 80% went Obama...not even close to the real results.
My guess is that the results are so skewed b/c the people (in the rest of the world) who participated in that voting site tend to be mostly one-worlders anyway.
Have you guys ever watched that John Adams HBO thing? Remember the scene where Mr. Adams finally meets King George face to face?
Small men these tyrants. They buckle more easily than advertised.
from your lips to God’s ears!
I worry that there could be terrible violence in the streets of Iran, especially if Khamenei orders the Revolutionary Guards to attack the crowds. The US and Europe (fat chance) should threaten Khamenei, A’jad and the mullahs by promising military retaliation if the Guards or the Army attack the peaceful protesters. I’m disgusted that Obama won’t speak more forcefully against Khamenei, A’jad and the mullahs, he’s a coward and he’s showing it.
I suggest that “Tea Party” participants wear green.
let’s pray for a Berlin Wall, not Tianamen Square outcome
Exactly.
And the point is?
I was thinking the same thing. The area must have been soaked with heavy security.
Wheres Baghdad Bob when we need him!!!

I believe BB’s alive and well and has been disguised as Press Secretary Gibbs!
Performing daily at the White House Pressers representing the Anointed One.
I thought he was doing gigs in Vegas...;-)
I swear we need to get BB a job here in the States!!!
What is the proper protocol for Hussein when meeting with Khamenei and the rest of the Mullahs? Is bowing appropriate or does he have to get down on his knees and kiss Khamenei’s ring? Just wondering...

This is really good news.
I do believe the Ayatollah has signed his own death warrant, and perhaps that of the entire theocratic regime.

No election irregularities, no nuclear weapons research, no homosexuality, pure as the driven snow. Or so they say. Why shouldn’t we trust them?
