Diplomat Stationed in Pyongyang, "Kim Jong-il's Health Got Worse"

It prompted the decision of Kim Jong-un's designation as a successor

(Beijing = Yonhap News) Cho Sung-dae = The health of N. Korean leader Kim Jong-il has markedly deteriorated recently, but Pyongyang is relatively calm with no unusual movements, according to Huanqiu Shibao, a sister newspaper of People's Daily, quoting an ambassador of a certain country to N. Korea on June 18.

The ambassador, who wants to remain anonymous, said that marked deterioration of Kim's health created complications in N. Korea's domestic situation, and this sped up the designation of Kim Jong-un as his successor, in his view.

However, N. Korean authorities are guarding Kim's health deterioration as a top secret and general public are not aware of this news.

He also said that , after the mass rally of 100,000 crowds on June 16 condemning UN sanction against N. Korea by UN Security council, Pyongyang regained its calm.

Pyongyang's street is secure and shows no indication of martial law imposed. There is no stepped-up restriction on people's movements and no sign of tension.

He revealed that, since all telephone conversations are bugged in Pyongyang during this (politically) sensitive period, he came to Beijing to report to his country. Situation is same for diplomats from other countries, which makes Beijing the hub of N. Korea diplomacy.

N. Korea does not appear to blame China and still regards it as a friend because N. Korea feels that China had no choice to consent UN sanction against N. Korea at the Security Council, he added.

F Castro has been sick, too. Long time. I’m not inclined to hold my breath.

Even at death's door, as he prepares to mount his winged horse and join his comrades in that big Juche Tower in the sky, Kim Jong Il manages to send calming mental waves across the land.
