WASHINGTON – Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton fractured her right elbow during a fall Wednesday, her chief of staff said.

Clinton was on her way to the White House when she fell and injured her elbow, chief of staff Cheryl Mills said in a statement released late Wednesday.

There are plenty of decent folks on FR -- I've seen prayers for recovery go up for a variety of political opponents, including really extreme cases like Ted Kennedy.

Besides, there are many of us who would have much rather seen Hillary in the WH than the current occupant. She has earned a certain grudging respect.

An elbow injury requires a cast initially to immobilize the broken joint and then surgery to implant a screw and a wire to hold the bones in place correctly until they heal. After wearing a cast after surgery, there are months of painful physical therapy to regain use of the arm. Learning to eat again is a challenge. Most people just live with the implants and from personal experience, its the worst kind of injury.
