PETA wishes Obama hadn't swatted that fly
Breitbart ^ | 6/17/09

Posted on 06/17/2009 7:34:54 PM PDT by FromLori

The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he's bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside. "We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals," PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals." During an interview for CNBC at the White House on Tuesday, a fly intruded on Obama's conversation with correspondent John Harwood. "Get out of here," the president told the pesky insect. When it didn't, he waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked it dead. "Now, where were we?" Obama asked Harwood.

Then he added: "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker." Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama's voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses. Still, "swatting a fly on TV indicates he's not perfect," Friedrich said, "and we're happy to say that we wish he hadn't." Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House has no comment on the matter.

Do these people feel the same way about unborn children.

I will absolutely bet you money that the majority of the members of PETA are “pro-aborts”!

This is funny. No, actually - really, it is. It's just that it's so funny, from so many different angles, that I don't know which one to comment on.

Decisions, decisions...

My first thoughts also when I saw the segment.

Question: Why did they put crap on the walls at the Obama wedding?

Answer: To keep the flies off the bride.

I don’t care about the fly part of it, but how far have we come from the dignity of Ronald Reagan when this smug jackass kills a fly in a public interview then says, “Pretty impressive, huh?”

It really turns my stomach that such an immature jackass is in the WH.

I think this is an excellent idea. We should all be catching our flies, mosquitoes and other "curious, smallest and least sympathetic" critters and releasing them at PETA headquarters.

I wonder how PETA would react if we were to deposit millions and millions of biting insects at PETA headquarters.

If unborn humans don’t deserve protection, neither do unborn animals. So next time you meet a PETArd who supports abortion, dare him to prove he is consistent in his beliefs. Serve him a burger made from fetal calf meat. By his logic, it should count as a veggie burger, right?

I wonder how PETA would react if we were to deposit millions and millions of biting insects at PETA headquarters.

I can just picture it now: different folks walking into PETA headquarters with multiple kinds of insects in baggies, and then opening them....spiders, ants, scorpions, centipedes,a snake or two, buffalo gnats, bees, all captured on video tape of course that will serve as our tutorial on how to show that we are compassionate.

It really turns my stomach that such an immature jackass is in the WH.

George Washington had something to say about killing bugs in public: if you must, do so in a gentlemanly fashion.

"13th Kill no Vermin as Fleas, lice ticks &c in the Sight of Others, if you See any filth or thick Spittle put your foot Dexteriously upon it if it be upon the Cloths of your Companions, Put it off privately, and if it be upon your own Cloths return Thanks to him who puts it off."
