PHILADELPHIAMahn Huu Doan, a/k/a "Bruce Doan", 40, of Philadelphia, was sentenced today to 151 months in prison for a massive mortgage fraud and identity theft scheme, announced United States Attorney Michael L. Levy. Doan, a self-described real estate investor, would purchase houses, using false or borrowed identities, using government insured loans which he secured using fraudulent information. Doan's scheme also involved fraudulent appraisals that inflated the value of the houses for the purpose of resell the properties for a higher profit.
In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Michael M. Baylson also ordered Doan to pay more than $5 million in restitution, a $5,000 fine, a $400 special assessment, and to complete three years of supervised release.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of the Inspector General. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Sarah L. Grieb and Michael S. Blume.
Make it an even 302 mo
I guess killing someone while drunk only gets you 30 days and probation...I am guessing this fraudster wasn’t an NFL player...
One was an accident. The other was premeditated.
“One was an accident. The other was premeditated.”
Drunk driving isn’t an accident.
They sure dont compare. This guy was a skunk.
too bad the drunk NFL player didn’t take this guy out instead of the welder.

Alleged plot to kill Philadelphia lawyer
Thursday, June 4th, 2009 by Linda Stein
The life of a lawyer can be difficult what with irate clients, demanding judges and the difficulty in collecting ones fees in uncertain economic times. No matter the day-to-day difficulties encountered by attorneys, being the object of a murder-for-hire plot is not usually in the cards. But, in a situation that sounds more like fiction than real life, federal prosecutors say a South Philadelphia mortgage broker allegedly attempted to hire a hit man to rub out an attorney and his client and maim another person, the The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The broker, Mahn Huu Doan, had the misfortune of trying to hire a cooperating federal witness to carry out the killings and his alleged conversations were recorded. Doan, who is being held without bail, allegedly told the would-be killer to make the deaths appear to be either robberies or accidental. He allegedly recommended using a rattlesnake as a weapon. The targeted lawyer was representing two plaintiffs who had sued Doan.
Agreed
We can also point this guy to millions of illegals who do identity theft.
Rattlesnakes aren’t all that deadly. Besides aren’t they immune to being bit by their own kind?
LoL yup they have a certain immunity.
rattlesnakes may not necessarily be lethal, but they sure leave an ugly wound when the tissue literally swells to the point of rupture. Nasty
I think Mr Doahn maybe Viet Mafia
I was referring to a snake biting a snake (lawyer)
Wow Larry you are on the crime desk tonight!
I know, but they have similarities to the actual snakes
Does a $400 “special assessment” seem odd to anyone when he has $5,000,000 in restitution and a $5000 fine? I don’t know, $400 just seems oddly small to me.
PM
Could be.
His name sure aint George! L0L
I respectfully disagree. If you consciously decide to imbibe many cocktails and operate a vehicle and kill someone, f you.
If he hadn’t paid off the family (a la Kobe Bryant) he would be doing some Mike Vick time.
No one consciously sets out to do that.
What if you consciously set out to drive a vehicle and just make a misjudgment on the road and kill someone?
One is malice of fore thought.
You are right. LOL
