Exactly! Mine looks just like a hunting rifle (with scope) until a closer inspection. Living on a lake, I always check the view behind my target, a smart thing to do when shooting in any direction. A pellet can go a long way.
When looking at people or signs, I suggest binoculars, not mounted scopes.
It is usually me on the slow side.
I think I’m fast and when I hit “post” there are five of six posts ahead of mine.
Mornings before the first cup of coffee kicks in and the second eye opens can be interesting also.
In my own defense, I did add a quote. Without that it may have been a phot finish. Any way, GMTA.
Rats with good PR beware.
From the article: "The boy was hit in the right arm by a round that traveled the length of the parking lot, Lammers said." Not too shabby for a handgun at night.
Open carry will force people to see that the people packing guns are just nice, ordinary Alaskans, like you and me. So lets get the word out. We need people to:
Hopefully, he wasn’t aiming for the center of mass...
I dunno, most of the Taco Bell drivethru windows Ive seen have bullet proof glass!
Hey, situation resolved, noone dead. This WAS a good hit.
Yup. I carry binoculars in my truck just for such a thing. Even when I'm out deer hunting I have forced myself to do my scanning with binoculars and NOT the rifle scope. I think that's a bad habit, but you see a lot of guys doing it. I really hated it when I would happen to spot another hunter way off on some other ridge or something and then realize that he's looking at me with his freakin' scope. Grrr...
This is a good gun control issue.
I think I may need such a thing. Is that CO2 powered or do you pump it up for each shot?
According to the US government, the crew mistakenly identified the Iranian Airbus A300 as an attacking F-14 Tomcat fighter.
Single shot, single, break-barrel “pump” to cock it.
They work magnificently against “squirrels and sech”.
I recommend www.airgundepot.com if you are shopping for any kind of conventional/”normal” air rifle (I haven’t checked to see whether they sell the super high powered, .50 cal, compressor-operated models).
Grrr is correct. Wonder how the scoper would feel if they suddenly learned that they were the scopee. Finding out that you’re on the wrong end of a scope is not a pleasant experience.
a tiny drivethru window, maybe, and I seriously doubt it....but certainly not the big dining area windows. Perhaps you're thinking of embedded wire and/or tempered safety glass...not multilayer inch-thick ballistic glass?
Palin’s fault. (Just practicing...)
This Taco Bell is in a very bad part of town - lots of sleezy bars/clubs within a block.
The shooting isn’t the first violent encounter at that Taco Bell. In February 2004, 27-year-old Eric Kalenka was repeatedly and fatally stabbed in the leg during a fight prompted by a fender-bender at the drive-through window. In August 2003, restaurant worker Joshua Goliver, 21, was fatally shot in the chest through the drive-through window during a robbery.
Also, the teen was in a crowd - good shooting indeed.
Wow. I’d close the damn place if it were my franchise.
This is an odd part of Anchorage - almost a Jekyl-Hyde.
During the day, pretty quiet and fairly ‘normal. There are several others - locals know where they are and steer clear at night.
BUt at night, it is Dodge City. Within a short distance of the Taco Stand are several bars (most are off-limits to GIs) a sleezy motel thae city did shut down for a short while, and is on the edge of Mountian View - one of the ‘bad’parts of the city, anytime.
So, the stand makes good money - its just that a lot of really bad things ‘happen’ to the customers after dark.
We will stop there to buy at the drive thru - in daylight.
Right across the street is another fast food joint that has few problems - it has a very small parking lot, the Taco Bell, a very large lot.
Sigh
Welcome to Alaska.
