Cheney Responds to Panetta

Dick Cheney released a statement responded to CIA Director Leon Panetta's suggestion that the former vice president's criticism of Obama administration policies means Cheney is wishing for another attack.

"I hope my old friend Leon was misquoted. The important this is whether the Obama administration will continue the policies that have kept us safe for the last eight years."

Panetta was quoted in a lengthy profile by Jane Mayer in this week's New Yorker.

“I think he smells some blood in the water on the national-security issue,” he told me. “It’s almost, a little bit, gallows politics. When you read behind it, it’s almost as if he’s wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point. I think that’s dangerous politics.”

While that quote has understandably received lots of attention, there is another passage that deserves scrutiny.

Mayer reports that Panetta once supported a so-called "truth commission" and she examines his motivation. She writes:

And yet Panetta does not go on record saying Obama is a two letter word for bad politics? The irony....

Wayne LaPierre said basically the same thing about Clinton back in the 90s.

Something to the effect that Clinton wanted another Columbine so more rules and regulations could be legislated against firearms.

If there is an attack the Rats want to say that Cheney called for it. They are trying to neutralize Cheney’s warning.

One thing is for sure - - Jane Mayer is a leftist Democrat pantload and a liar.
I wouldn’t trust a word she writes.

FWIW

The CIA sounds like one big happy family with Papa Panetta’s steady hand and Mama Pelosi’s motherly critiques.

Not anything like the way the Demons tried to make us lose the war in Iraq and in Afghanistan.

"We've had policy disagreements, but I think what is true for anybody is doing what's -- doing what we need to to keep the American people safe and secure. That's what the President is working on every day."

This is a quote from the article link.

I think this administration is in CYA mode because of the changes in policy thay have made by coddling the terrorists.

They are hoping to God that there is no attack on our country & when one does happen - they want to blame Bush & Cheney.

With the way things are going - it isn't going to take long before Obozo is tested on our own soil to see how he responds.

hold the phone.... whattaya mean “Cheney smells blood in the water”? is this an admission that maybe security is not what it should be? a hint that our country is NOT as safe as it should be? blood in the water usually means there is something there to draw the sharks right? so what is the something that cheney sees that makes him say our country is less safe and that pannetta is admitting is there?

They were bragging a while back that they stopped a terrorist attack in New York two months ago or so. It had little coverage so I don’t even know if it is true or not. Anything that Obama says should be verified many times over.

Good take!!! Like Rush just said, if you listen the libs will tell you their plan and fear.

Wondering just how long it will take for the Bermuda “vacationers” will be back to their old tricks?

He has already been tested on our soil. The assassination of the army private in Little Rock was the test. And Obama did the best impersonation of the tar baby that has ever been done. He don say nuttin. He totally ignored the event. I wonder if he even bothered to phone his condolences to the young man’s family. I doubt it, because if he had, he would have made sure that we knew about it.

You are so right!! I am outraged by that - as many Americans are.

The man has no love for our military & he is a coward.

That soldier was killed by a terrorist & NO outrage was shown by Obozo.

My thoughts were on an attack of one of our cities..which I feel will happen in the near future.
