Calvin Klein 'threesome' billboard in SoHo too sexy, say some
daily news | ny local ^ | June 14, 2009 | Sarah A. Armaghan

A steamy Calvin Klein billboard that seems to show a teenage girl in a threesome - with suggestions of a foursome - is raising eyebrows and ire.

Passersby can't miss the massive, sexually charged ad on a building at Lafayette and Houston Sts. in SoHo, and they can't believe their eyes.

"It's borderline pornographic," said neighborhood resident Lisa Marchese, 36, a marketing specialist who was disturbed by the youthfulness of the models.

"They all look so young, particularly the girl. And to portray them in a threesome - it's just taking it too far."

The ad depicts a topless young woman lying on top of a barechested boy while kissing a second shirtless male.

They're on a sofa, and below them a third male - pants and shirt unbuttoned - is lying on the floor.

Asked about the message in the ad, a Calvin Klein spokesman said the "intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic."

New Yorkers think they overshot.

If New Yorkers think it is over-the-top, it probably is.

It's a massive billboard. I don't know exactly how long it's been up, but I saw it several weeks ago and was taken aback. But, I live in the Georgia, so I assumed that just the way things are in the big apple.

When you're talking about a state who fires one Governor for the contracting of "fine" prostitutes, and replaces him with a Governor who apparently enjoys cocaine and extra-marital affairs. the billboard just fits in.

One has to wonder what manner of ads they rejected before they went with this one.

Calvin Klein placed this billboard in SoHo and not in Waco.

The reason for this is that the ad works in SoHo while it would not work in Waco.

New York and California are morally, fiscally bankrupt.

Looks like kind of a fun shoot if the boys swing that way, although what the one underneath is fantasizing about is a bit of a mystery given what’s going on overhead. Who stole his underpants, maybe.

This is just one more way homosexuality is gaining acceptance. Such ads appeal to female sub conscious fantasies while they appeal to male biological drives to spread the genes. If one doubts this Freudian insight just try showing an ad that has two men and one woman — it would not fly since males down’t want competition and females generally only want one male partner.

I was going to post a closer picture, but I don’t want to offend. Here is the link if anyone is interested. Personally I think that it is just too much. I don’t see how this has anything to do with selling jeans.

SoHo is more or less a realtor's concoction denoting the area of Manhattan just south of Houston Street. It's the artsy-fartsiest section of New York, if not the known universe.

(The “Streets” in Manhattan run east-west, 1st Street is one block north of Houston. South of Houston, they are named. The “Avenues” run north-south. If Madison had a number it would be 4th Avenue.)

SoHo was mostly zoned industrial, and industry, for some mysterious reason, has mostly abandoned Manhattan. This left a lot of (at one time) relatively cheap “loft” space available which people in rent controlled Manhattan converted into illegal residences and “arteests” studios. It's where Tom Hanks hangs out in “Big”.

Just to clarify matters, think of it as a huge dormitory at Antioch crammed full of adult adolescents suffering from arrested development and begging for money from home or their trust funds.

Their demographic must be underage victims of promiscuity.

Their demographic target are people who use the 'date-rape' drug?

The other kind would have been just as bad, but I suspect that many men on this site would not be upset. You can’t be upset about Letterman’s jokes about Palin and family and be okay with any of this, no matter what the combinations.

I'm kind of a computer geek and always thought it meant Small Office Home Office (but my home office looks nothing like that).

It also refers to a downtown or central district of a large city where the artsy-fartsy crowd hangs out.
