Ahmadinejad plays to the rural constituency almost exclusively. His own family migrated to Tehran from the provincial village of Aradan, and--as embarrassing as Tehranis find his rural accent, clothes, and demeanor--to villagers, the presence of one of their own in high office is nothing short of empowering. Ahmadinejad has literally handed out money in the provinces, even printing extra currency to do so. He has the undying loyalty of many of these villagers, and he is going to need it.

Headsmaking stoopidity. I thought liberals loved this nutjob?
Sick, sick, sick.
I thought perhaps you faked the headline because it was hard to imgagine CBS sinking that low.
But you didn’t, and they did.
Ah, another liberal thing. Idiots. Its not OK to be prejudiced against minorites, but it is to be against a whole section of this country’s population?
Another reason to BOYCOTT CBS and it’s sponsors. See the Letterman threads for info on this.
Typical snipe headline even if it is old. (June 8th)
This election was a fraud from the get go. The Mullahs run Iran and Imanutjob is their man!
The election is a dog and pony show for the west.
Now our Zero, playing along, takes credit for the ‘progress’ in the region from his great speech.
It’s all BS!!!!
What an a$$.
That sounds more like BHO. Doesn't sound at all like GWB.
I guess the MSM no longer feels the need to fake it. That's it for CBS, I'll never watch another minute of anything on their network or buy anything advertised on it.
Moonves is driving her network into the ground by running tripe like this. Katie Couric is losing audience. And the majority of the country finds the local news to be more competent than national syndicated news now anyways.
The MSM sinks to a new low. Unbelievable. The guy is out of office and they still cannot leave him alone.
“I thought liberals loved this nutjob?”
Yes. He was important enough to speak at Columbia and to be cheered there. Apparently this piece was written before the writer learned that obama was taking credit for the overturned election...that didn’t happen....It must all be very confusing for the lib journalists who need to prop up obama (and continue to snipe at W) every step of the way.
Comparing him to a clueless, purposely stupid war criminal is such an embarrassment for Ahminijad The president of Iran actually won election fairly and squarely. He did not start two unnecessary wars based on lies and threaten many more. He did not order torture and illegal spying and Americans to go kill women and children for the oil companies.
On the other hand, it was admittedly a novel way to do some Bush-bashing.
In ‘79 the left cheered on the Islamic Revolution in Iran and now they have the gall to associate a Khomeinist like Achmadinijad with us?
Who is writing the headlines ... David Letterman?
Ahmacrazynutjob was one of DNCBS’ heroes during the war, what gives?
Pray for America
You are correct. But CBS doesn’t have the balls to say it!
Re:"Meet Iran's George W. Bush" http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/06/08/opinion/main5072617.shtml
Are you kidding me? I guess your network no longer feels the need to even fake unbiased reporting. after Dan Rather's faked memo report, David Letterman's sexist "jokes" about a 14 year old girl, or if you believe him, an 18 year old girl (like that is OK) and now this garbage report on your website comparing a former President of the United State, who did nothing but his best to protect this country, to a religious dictator in a country that fakes their elections, I am done with your network. I will never watch another minute of any broadcast on your network and plan to contact all of the advertisers on your network to advise them I will never purchase their products either. I will also pass this on to ever person I know and have them do the same and will start a likewise web campaign.
...And that’s why I own so many guns. There may be a few delusional crazies on the Right whom we all correctly disown, but the ones on the Left are numerous, never disavowed, and to a frightening extent, in charge of our government.
Need to send a message to their stockholders that they need to reign in the bigots at CBS.
Journalistic malpractice.
This headline is horrific.
well said, but I dont own any guns, and I dont have ammo and I love obamba.
You'd think the idiots would figure that out, but because they're idiots, they keep doing the same thing.
And they keep losing money.
Sweet.
“Ahmadinejad has literally handed out money in the provinces, even printing extra currency to do so. He has the undying loyalty of many of these villagers, and he is going to need it.”
Sounds much more like Iran’s Barrack Obama to me.
Two thousand dollars isn’t that much for a suit. I buy at bottom basement prices, and can’t find one for less than $500 in my size, unless you’re talking about a fabric that has the quality of toilet paper. Most of those the salesman tries to sell me are in the $1,000 or better range. It’s not surprising to me that Bush would pay a little more.
It harks back to when JFK was shot and Dan Rather went around his superior to falsely report that it was a right-wing hate guy who did it. It’s about as accurate.
If you noticed, $2000 was the low end of the cost spectrum for a Bush suit (with $14,000 being the upper end), and that article is 7 years old. I think George W. Bush was one of the best tailored Presidents we’ve ever had. And he wore his clothing well.
Oh, yeah, that’s right - I forgot about the boating accident where all my guns and ammo fell overboard.
Say what you will about George Bush/43/; he understood power; he did not seek it, for it's own sake. Can never, ever say the same about Obama; nor HIS counterpart, Ahmadinejad.
As for generating 'ill will'; Obama has managed to generate more teeth-knashing'/hand-wringing frustration - not to mention 'fear itself' - with our authentic friends; as well as with those who are not; despite Obama's deceptive imaginings, to the contrary. And, lest we forget; he has only been in office for a couple of months. . .
Am always amazed at Obama's worn excuses for breaking the bank - and now back - of every American - tough times call for tough; if not desperate - and expensive - measures. Safe bet that Obama's response to America's desperate time post 9/11; would have been a spending far and above; GW's best efforts.
Of course, while at it; Obama, no doubt; would do as he is doing now. . .continue to create crisis and foment; continue to usurp our Constitution; our freedoms while nationalizing as many institutions as possible; including 'Media' as well.
Oh the opportunities missed by Bush!
Taking peculiar pleasure, crushing America's economic bones; Obama additionally, enjoys degrading our Military. . .all action/MO here that endanger America's national security; and by consequence; the future of every American.
All to say; so NOT like Bush. . .(CBS idiocy; and that of their 'collective like-minded' aside.)
Ahmadinejad; like Obama, OTOH. . .finds this 'road less travelled'; the road preferred. It is the road that each of these men travel to what should be a vainglorious end. Perhaps, in their next life; they will share as well; a common destination.
Just pray that neither of these men; take all of their fellow citizens with them.
W was a one world NE. liberal like his Dad not a Texan.
Obama would've responded to 9/11 with a "porkulus" foreign aid bill -- that would've showered a trillion-or-so on Muslim countries.
Oh...and a speech at the UN.
Yes. . .and imagine Obama, offering to the world; mantras of mea culpa's - offered on OUR behalf. . .or, however one says in 'sorry tones' - through my fault - in Islamic.
He was a ‘beaten’ President at the end.
“He was a beaten President at the end.”
He has done more damage here than any of our enemy’s could ever dream of.
‘..The piece is totally asinine....’
agree. President Bush always looked fantastic....his wardrobe was tailored perfectly and he looked Presidential.
Mr. Obama could take a lesson from President Bush. Appears Mr. Obama prefers 2 button suit jackets and when only one button is buttoned, the bottom of his tie shows.....i know, picky, picky...but, imho, it looks sloppy. Mr. Obama does not ‘look’ Presidential....again, imho, possibly cause he does not have the highest regard for the Office of the Presidency.
clicked the link figuring it was a made up headline. when i saw they indeed use those very words i closed the link.
its real easy to compare two people when you cheerypick so i guess a headline like,”Meet Obama,Americas Hitler” or perhaps,”Meet Obama,Americas Stalin” wouldn’t on the face of it thought to be offensive.
The Left is utterly insecure. It needs scapegoats to cover up for its insecurity. Hence going back to beating on Bush, who has nothing to do with this election. These people are truly pathetic.
As for doing more damage. . .Obama in his first two months; has changed the map, 'face' of America; altered the character of American politics and faster than anyone can utter 'John Hancock'. All to say; IMHO; that Obama is so far, unprecedented, in his efforts to damage America as he attempts his 'recasting' of our Country, in his image.
Think Obama has distinguished himself as well; by having the most corrupt, dishonest. . .degraded Administration that we have ever seen. . .and sadly; pathetically; there is more to come; as Obama, has 'just begun'.
Granted and who can we thank for this??
With a shrinking audience and ad revenue drying up CBS News can afford to hire only the most mediocre talent.
No, he didn't take credit, he tried to take credit before he found out who was winning, he thought it was Mousavi and he patted himself on the back about the robust dialog the Iranians were having and he caused it and brought change. Well, now there is no change and the libs are pi**ed because they wanted the ONE to take credit for it. Isn't going to happen, the Iranians will run rampant again today but that will be about it.
All foreign journalist were told they had to leave today(read it on twitter from a BBC guy)because their visas were going to expire today. After that you can bet(if it isn't going on now)that the Mullahs will do some serious crowd control. Back a few years they used helicopter gunships on a crowd, don't think they won't do it again as soon as they think no one is looking. Imanutjob won and will stay glorious leader!
This is not a CBS article per se. It is a copy and paste piece from the New Republic. That said, why is CBS copying and pasting articles from liberal sites and no conservative articles?
Thanks . . .I knew that, I was playing with the time line.
I know he tried and some(probably a lot) of the country believes he saved the day.
There’s no news on the week-end for the sheeple. ya know!
CBS is a charicature of its perverted self.
Not as much as they hate W.
