Military Covering Up Fireballs From Space....
Fox News ^ | June 12th, 2009

Posted on 06/11/2009 7:42:50 PM PDT by TaraP

For 15 years, scientists have benefited from data gleaned by U.S. classified satellites of natural fireball events in Earth's atmosphere — but no longer.

A recent U.S. military policy decision now explicitly states that observations by hush-hush government spacecraft of incoming bolides and fireballs are classified secret and are not to be released, SPACE.com has learned.

The satellites' main objectives include detecting nuclear bomb tests, and their characterizations of asteroids and lesser meteoroids as they crash through the atmosphere has been a byproduct data bonanza for scientists.

The upshot: Space rocks that explode in the atmosphere are now classified

Time to don the tinfoil and ask

What are they hiding?

Why are they hiding it?

“Fireballs from Space” - sounds like the title of a great B-grade Sci-Fi movie!

My guess is the DSP satellites are slowly dieing and the next generation replacements keep getting delayed. Not a good idea letting scientists let the enemy know when one of our birds go blind!

Scientists say not only will research into the threat from space be hampered, but public understanding of sometimes dramatic sky explosions will be diminished, perhaps leading to hype and fear of the unknown.

If Fireballs explode over cities, are they going to lie about what just exploded?

Any time I want, weather permitting, I can go lay down on the backporch, look straight up at the sky and within minutes I'll see EXPLOSIONS.

This is an exceedingly common phenomenon.

Somebody probably decided that a technically savvy person viewing the data from the satellites could determine their capabilities and determine how to thwart them.

This new administration has fine priorities. How we observe meteors is now top secret but how we gather intelligence about terrorists is now an open book. You never know when a meteorite will have some blob-like creature that can only be killed by top secret technology (we don’t want any space creatures out there to know about our technology), but we will never, ever, have to worry about terrorism!

Next time, try moving your head away from the screen door.

LOL

“Zoo animals” have been around for years.

I take this as a new weapons system is ready for or is being tested.

X-51 HCM?
