SALT LAKE CITY — An activist who worked alongside slain gay rights leader Harvey Milk announced plans Sunday for a march on Washington this fall to demand that Congress establish equality and marriage rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Cleve Jones said the march, planned for Oct. 11, will coincide with National Coming Out Day and launch a new chapter in the gay rights movement. He made the announcement during a rally at the annual Utah Pride Festival.
"We seek nothing more and nothing less than equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states," Jones said.

See if the march on Washington focuses the attention of Democrats on gay rights. Obama has been silent about gay issues including gay marriage since he became president. If this was really the big civil rights issue of our generation, wouldn’t these liberals all be out there supporting homosexual marriage???
In the civil rights era of the ‘50s and ‘60s, liberal Democrats and many moderate to progressive Republicans supported civil rights. Though no southern Democrats did.
Today, hardly any mainstream politicians support full homosexual marriage. There’s clearly not the political will to pass legislation on these issues. Do the liberals simply expect the courts to impose the entire gay agenda?

I don’t think a large gay march will convince the masses to support their cause. Those things end up looking like tryouts for The Village People. Guys wearing leather thongs and riding unicycles arent gonna psyche America into a pro- gay rights mood.

One gay guy organizes a march and every newspaper is on it. Meanwhile, we are trying to organize the largest march on Washington in the history of the country and not a peep from the papers.
I totally agree! History will record this as a time of insanity when a group of sexually confused adults who as children were molested became a protected class of citizens. It’s quite insane...

The American Psychological Association ought to come out against the march as penance for the spread of this disease that they wrought on society. the APA let itself be used by the gay agenda in the 1970s and were the ones who started to say that there was such a thing as “gayness” and that no therapist would ever again be allowed to treat unwanted same sex attraction. The gay activists who go them to do this have since recanted as they realize they were wrong. Meanwhile two generations people have lacked where to turn to get help and countless individuals through now fault of their and all fault of the gay agendaists and the APA have made uninformed choices that ruined their own lives and those of their families. These groups attack viciously the groups like NARTH and JONAH that are there to help them understand the early childhood causes of same sex attraction and how to move toward becoming happily heterosexual.

If a lesbian is single (but butch)..will she check the (male gender)or female box?
If one is transgender...now this is where it gets squirrelie.Will he ..if he is now a she.. check the male gender box or the female box????!!!??
If 2 lesbians are married and get a divorce..which one has to pay the alimony?usually the husband pays.
If 2 queer guys get married and divorced..which one is the husband and who pays the alimony?what if one wants a sex change?
This will open up a big,Big can of worms for Insurance companies,retirement funds,death benefits,child support,county records and it will go on like noBODY can imagine....WHEW..I’m tuckered out just thinking about it!

Harvey Milk was a real person, not just a character in a movie with Sean Penn. He became a “leader” by being murdered, so you could say he’s more a martyr than anything else.
