Boys as young as 12 are to be issued with condom "credit cards" allowing them to pick up free contraception at football grounds, barbers shops and scout huts.
Condoms will be distributed at places where boys congregate, to spare them the embarrassment of visiting sexual health clinics or GPs surgeries or facing a shop assistant at a pharmacist's counter.
They will be able to collect the condoms by showing a plastic card issued to them after they have attended a safe-sex lesson, according to new government guidance. Boys who take advantage of the scheme will not have to give their names or answer questions about their sex lives.
The scheme is intended to cut teenage pregnancies and persuade boys to take greater responsibility for contraception.
However, critics believe it will encourage children to be sexually active from a younger age. Britain has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe and the government has failed in its pledge to halve rates of pregnancy in girls under the age of 18.
The plastic cards are already used by some local authorities, but will be made available to all boys in Britain aged 13 and over after the guidance is published in the autumn.

The UK seems to be constantly...*Under the influence*
One of the rites of manhood is buying your first pack of rubbers at the local drug store. Nobody should be denied that fun.
Why not whore houses?
Yes, because lack of condom access is what’s holding kids back from safe sex. Also, the sky is green and flowers smell like vomit.
“Why not whore houses?”
Because public schools already hand them out for free.
I’ve sometimes wondered at all the talk of sex, sex information, sex education that our society has pushed in the last 40+ years. In a time with greater amounts of information available, and education on these subjects in schools, and the whole “safe sex” message, we have seen skyrocketing rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
Rates of unwed/teenage pregnancy and VD have moved up over the years along with increasing the information and education about sex matters. It’s like these programs influence people to do the opposite of what we would like.
“hey buddy, I’ll trade ya two of my 2 condom cards, mint, for your mantle rookie card, waddaya say gomer? deal?”
Roses are red
Violets are blue
put this on, before you .........
Most young men these days are emotionally castrated. Why not just cut their nuts off at birth and make them lifelong liberals....
Kinda strange....kids get illegal drugs, booze, drive way too fast,
shoot guns, but can’t figure out how and when to use a
condom...
Hey “policymakers”...maybe it’s cuz they don’t really want
to use them. Asking children to have safe, “responsible” sex
is just about the same as asking them to not have sex in the
first place....
Why the **** would a barber shop agree to hand out condoms? By far, one of the weirdest things I’ve ever heard.
Bars would be a better place (although they usually have machines anyway).
Just by offering information about sex the public schools are indicating that this is OK behavior for kids. They would never provide information about safe gun handling or safe smoking.
EXACTLY.....I remember my mother was on some committee on sex education when I was in high school (this was late 1960’s....and had me read their stuff.....I really had not been interested....and don’t recall much of what I read....but, I didn’t need to be PUSHED in that direction. We were church goers...but there was NEVER ANY admonition on THAT side or guidance.... I strongly believe that the PUSHING of SEX is the problem.
Maybe the Dentist Office-Instead of a sucker, you get a tootbrush and a condom....
UK=Psychotic Reaction...
Fortunately the Church of England has a two-pronged pro-active policies to combat this: promoting abortion and homosexuality.

The World has changed in a ways I would of never dreamed of,
At 12, me and my friends were out collecting Coke bottles from the neighborhood, to cash in so we could use the change to buy more RC Colas and Laura Scudder Potato Chips and ride the swings and jump off....
Knowledge ain’t morality. It’s that simple... and it just so happens that in these blinkered times, the places of knowledge are the most immoral.
Condoms will be distributed at places where boys congregate, ...
Obviously the machinations of predatory homos.
Why pass these out free? They certainly aren’t made free of charge, they cost someone (ie the taxpayer) something; if history is any teacher, they cost the GB taxpayer a premium.
Now, if you pass out 1,000 FREE condoms, I’d wager that only a couple would be used for their intended purpose - a vast majority of these condoms will be used as party favors, water balloons or simply played with and thrown away.
Making them available is one thing, making them FREE accomplishes two very negative things. One, making them free implies that sex is morally approved by whatever authority figure that provides the condoms. Secondly, making them free encourages the kids to take as many of them as they can get their hands on, for fun and pranks - all funded by the taxpayer.
I remember seeing a similar “condom” card for women about 45 years ago.
On one side it said...”Place inside of right knee here.”
On the other it said ...”Place inside of left knee here.”
“Squeeze!”
yes it almost seems like they are pushing sex doesn’t it?
By talking so much about safe sex and that whole line of thinking, it’s like they expect the kids will have sex. It’s like it’s just expected, and the only concern is to do something safely, not whether you should even be doing it in the first place.
It’s a tough situation, in that, teenagers bodies may be physically able to do certain things, but their minds and emotions aren’t ready to handle sexual relationships. But then again, we’re not supposed to make value judgements, we’re just supposed to assume that young people will have sex and that the only issue is how to make it safe.
And you have to wonder about whether all this advice is penetrating. With so much unplanned pregnancy and VD, clearly many people are not doing the safe sex routine.
hey buddy, Ill trade ya two of my 2 condom cards, mint, for your mantle rookie card, waddaya say gomer? deal?
That’s kinda what I was thinking— collect the whole set of Condom Cards, from #1, “First-Base Freddie,” to #25, “HIV Harry!”
At 12 I was still playing with Barbie.
Squeeze!
^^^
Young women today could do well to use such a “card”. Behavior is so out of control.
At 12 I was still playing with Barbie.
&&&
I was still climbing trees and playing with my Revlon doll, which was like Barbie.
Usually with the pharmacist yelling out to his staff,” Hey, we need a package of the condoms up here at the register !”
( of course, that was only embarrassing if you were a teenager who ‘shouldn’t “ be having sex.) HA!
Ahhhh...the good old days!
It was considered desirable they be sold only in a place used by men and not by women. Barbers shops fitted the bill.
"Something for the weekend, Sir," was the traditional phrase used by a barber offering to sell them to their customers.
Wow. Interesting, I had no idea. Thanks.
LOL. I remember the first “pill” was an aspirin tablet...held firmly between the knees.
