GENEVA Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld could be in trouble soon for the role he played in human rights abuses committed in the Guantanamo prison, a United Nations expert said Wednesday.
"In a year or two, his responsibilities will be established. Wherever he goes, he will face difficulties," Leandro Despouy, who is special rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, told journalists in Geneva.

More evidence that the UN has far exceeded its mandate. It’s time to get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

This is reason #1 for retaining our sovereignty and a position of strength. Obama has already weakened us.
I wanted out of the UN 25 or 30 years ago. It is our enemy.

1. We should publish a list with addresses of all the Morons in the senate who voted for this nonsense.
2. Then withdraw from the Usless “United Nations” and spend no more money on this group of CRETINS.
3. Put out the address of MANFRED NOWACK and LEANDRO DESPOUY for all the World to know.
NONE OF THESE CREEPS ARE WORTHY TO TIE THE SHOES OF SEC OF DEFENSE DONALD RUMSFELD.

100% agree!
States elected and sent delegates to the House and Senate to represent the interests of the states!
Instead of doing what their constituents wished they decided to enlarge the central government, make a career of it and then retire on a magnificent pension plan designed by themselves.
They are now the enemies of their constituents and care nothing about the rights of the states they're supposed to represent nor the Constitution which forbids what they and the central government are doing to this nation.
Of course the political parties are complicit in this and the members jump in and out of each others' beds.
A third political party, properly constituted and comprised of members who want to emasculate the federales would clean these two parties' clocks.

It's just hard to imagine Rumsfeld on the beaches of Gitmo with a waterboard under his arm, shouting, “Surf's Up!!!”.
Do they even make wingtip beach shoes?

Despouy is an Argentine, and for decades a fanatical Inspector Javert in ferreting out human rights violations — as he sees them. He is the sort of person the UN cultivates; however, should his wish come true, and the UN indicts Rumsfeld and Bush on Iraq, the institution may finally have overstepped its role. The reaction for that part of America which still has some pride left, would be fierce.
