Are you surprised by this? Look, I believe that in Obama’s mind, the only service for your country that matters is ‘community service’. The military is a distasteful necessity that spends too much of our money, and if someone dies in uniform he/she signed up for it and should have expected it. Same opinion that the Clintons have.

Gates did not release anything to the public about his sympathy to the family of the fallen soldier and to the soldier wounded. He didn’t have to grant an interview at all.
First statement should have come immediately after the shooting to give his condolences to the family on behalf of the DoD. That would not have taken much effort but I guess he waited for ZERO which was a mistake. I don’t watch cable news at all.
SecDef Rumsfeld would have been right out in front with President Bush who cared about the men and women who serve our Nation.
Exactly. The bottom line is that the shooting murder of that soldier at the hands of Islam isn’t *useful* to him.

We already know why Obama responded to the Tiller murder -- it's garden variety interest-group politics concerning the assassination of a person who had already made huge political waves. He was "known," and his was ideally suited to further a larger political agenda.
Your own personal interests aside, there is nothing in this case to similarly distinguish it from any of the other murders committed that day.
It would be different if this murder were part of a significant trend. But it's not. I can count on one hand the number times that "it musta been a Muslim" turned out to be correct.
That's not to say that we might not see such a trend in the future; that's what the FBI is looking for even now. But it's not to that point yet; it's just another murder.
