Why Savage's ad hominem attacks?
World Net Daily ^ | May 28, 2009 | Ellis Washington

Posted on 05/28/2009 7:06:18 PM PDT by Mozilla

Out of the 250-plus replies I received regarding my recent article, "The Savage silence of the lambs" and the radio interview Dr. Savage did of me, about half of the respondents took up my challenge to answer the question: "Why have virtually the entire conservative and liberal media so hardened their hearts and closed their bowels of compassion against Michael Savage?"

Here is a summary replies:

* The reason why Fox News, Rush, Hannity, conservative talk radio and the mainstream media daily ignores the work of Michael Savage is because he calls them names all the time.

* Savage has mocking epithets for all the big-named conservative talk show hosts: "Hush Bimbo," "the golfer" (Rush Limbaugh), "the wall-banger" (Sean Hannity), "the leprechaun" (Bill O'Reilly), "the hemorrhoid with ears" (Glenn Beck), etc.

* Because of Savage's ad hominem attacks against the GOP, the liberal mainstream media and conservative talk-show hosts, they are having their revenge by ignoring him during his hour of need. Michael is now reaping what he sowed.

These conservative commentators realize that Savage is head and shoulders above them intellectually, philosophically and spiritually. Because of their lack of intellectual honesty, rather than learning from Dr. Savage or taking his criticisms to heart, they take the intellectually dishonest approach, put on their hypocrite's hat and do the things against Savage that they for 20 years have so bitterly complained that the Democratic Party and the liberal mainstream media did to them ignoring them, slandering them, libeling them, mocking them. It is shameless hypocrisy writ large!

Furthermore, unlike Fox News, Rush, and Others, Savage was never in the tank for the Republican Party or the one-world socialism of Bush 41, Clinton or Bush 43, leading to Obama. Neither did Savage behave as a mouthpiece for the GOP.

“he is above them spiritually, economically and...”

Says who? Spiritually, if I were him, I’d be concerned for we are accountable for every word that proceeds out of our mouth. I worry about that myself sometimes - we all should - but those who talk for a living are particularly vulnerable.

Oops - don’t know where I got “economically” from other than that’s all that’s in the news these days.

I don’t know why anyone thinks Savage is spiritually and intellectually superior to the likes of Prager, Medved, Hewitt, and so forth. No way.

Savage is truly on his own IMO and it’s what he deserves. He makes some points and keeps issues alive the others don’t do. So he’s helpful, but he’s not going to be RNC chair anytime soon.

Savage is not mentally stable.

I would be afraid to associate with him, since I would not want to apologize for him, later.

If you want the team to come to your defense, you should be a team player.

Savage is the lone ranger by choice, and he has no right to complain.

I don’t know anyone on the air who can discuss ethics, morals, and politics like Prager. He’s a gentleman. Let’s the caller talk. And makes sure he understands the caller before he responds. Savage is none of this.

I would agree that Savage “savages” his
conservative competition with name calling
and that this could be why he’s dangling
in the wind. However... when Savage has
a guest, he lets them speak until they
have said what they need to say.

THAT’S refreshing.

Let’s the caller talk

Something Savage doesn’t know how to do. His only reason for callers, to give him his next rant subject … seldom lets the caller finish talking. I was challenged by a friend of mine to give Savage six months, then evaluate. My evaluation … many good ideas, much substance can be found in his talking points, often wrong in his observations of history, self promoting. Often asks his caller a question, hesitates, and just when the caller begins to respond, he cuts them off and starts his rant. I no longer listen to Savage (and I gave it more than six months). ;-)

Obviously this writer is huge into spin. Lack of intellectual honesty????? That moniker applies to Savage and in a huge way - during Bush 43's two terms he would one day praise Bush, and then the next tear him down. Savage would go on rants and raves that only further convinced me that he is not conservative, but a wolf in sheeps clothing trying to make conservatives in this country appear as racists and mean to anyone not like them. Most of Savage's show was filled with no evidence but lots of innuendo and ad hominem attacks - mostly aimed at conservatives while giving passes to liberals. Savage is either a stooge for the liberals in this country or he's one of them of his own choosing.

I won’t recommend anyone, I will leave that choice up to you to find your favs.

This guy makes a pretty good case for Savage, if you read the whole article.

But the fact is, you reap what you sow.

For instance, there’s nothing wrong with pointing out when Rush is wrong, or you think he is wrong. But do it rationally and charitably, since he’s on your side most of the time.

As for Savage being more intelligent than Rush, that’s a pretty hard case to make.

Uh...I'm not sure that's a reason for a news organization to not cover something newsworthy.

Other talk show hosts ignoring it is one thing-- but for a News Organization to do that because they were called names sets a bad precedent. CNN, MSNBC are guilty of it as well with regard to the tea parties.

He has the right to offend; be offensive; and invite such by return. MS does not deserve; anymore than Geert Wilders; or whomever else the Brits deems 'offensive' i.e. 'offensive to Muslims, that is'; and so be barred from entering their Country.

This IS NOT THE STUFF of Democracies! It is an insane capitulation of the British Government; and no matter what else; everyone should be defending Michael Savage.

Well, there is the other guy who yells "get off the phone you big dope!"

And the Wall-banger who is so un-original that he borrows that line, "get off the phone you big dope!", and even uses the vocal of the originator.

All of them should be taken in small doses.

“This IS NOT THE STUFF of Democracies! It is an insane capitulation of the British Government; and no matter what else; everyone should be defending Michael Savage.”

And I think the idea for the Brits came from the USA government, to make an example of Michael. The others mentioned in the article say nothing because they are afraid they will be targeted next. That kind of thinking worked out real well in Nazi Germany/sarc. As someone else posted above, it appears we are all on our own in this.....

When has Rush or Hannity ever attacked Savage?

The reason why Rush is so popular and despised by the Left is that he doesn't come off as a barking, wild-eyed, foaming at the mouth extremist. He doesn't fit the Left's template of what conservatives are and that's why he's hated. That's why he's targeted by the Left. It's not Rush's fault that he knows how to deal with the Left better than Savage. But I don't recall Rush ever saying anything about Savage.

I like Savage, and he serves his niche for the right as to who he is. He shouldn't change. But he shouldn't be a hater, either.

he’s no wolf in sheeps clothing, he is just unstable, one day he is a wigwam, the other day he is a teepee

he is two tents!

Anyways, he is fun to lisen to sometimes, but intellectually superior? He is more cynical, and THAT we do need now, I am so sick of the blind support for the GOP that Rush and Hannity played since they went on the air and had to see Bush destroy and only NOW see it as being a waste of time acting like the GOP is some answer

but superior?? NO ONE tops Rush.

It is easy to top hannity on smarts, but he does do good interviewing I think. Beck is different as Savage is different, but I am undecided who is smarter, they are both close in intellect regardless how many books Savage wrote

Savage expects that those he attacked, like Rush, Hannity, etc (funny I don't see Mark Levin's name listed there, and Mark rips on Savage big time), come out and defend him? ROTFLOL!

You keep trashing conservatives and then expect them to come to your defense, Weiner?  That's just ridiculous.  You can't expect the same folks you openly mock with your derisive nicknames to help you out, now.  No man is an island, and that snaggletooth Savage is about to learn that lesson the hard way.
