Tancredo: La Raza is "Latino KKK"

Anti-immigration crusader and former Colorado Republican Rep. Tom Tancredo was on CNN this afternoon whacking Sonia Sotomayor for her association with the National Council of La Raza, which was listed in a 2000 American Bar Association bio of the judge.

"If you belong to an organization called La Raza, in this case... which is from my point of of view any way... nothing more than a ... Latino KKK without the hoods or the nooses. If you belong to something like that in a way that's going to convince me and a lot of other people that it's got nothing to do with race. Even though the logo of La Raza is "All for the race. Nothing for the rest." What does that tell you?

CNN's Rick Sanchez seemed flabbergasted: "Alright. We're not talking about -- we're not talking about La Raza --"

La Raza is not well liked by conservatives for its stances on immigration -- and has been accused of Hispanic separatism over the years.

But it is also one of the nation's oldest mainstream Hispanic advocacy groups, with 300 neighborhood affiliates and corporate sponsorship that includes Citigroup.

And it has not been implicated in a 150-year history of lynchings, night rides, voter registration obstruction or enforcement -- at the barrel of a gun -- of Jim Crow segregation laws.

They sell La Raza like it was a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce or other benign organization. If so it was a very bad choice of a name.

In the case of the Nation of Aztlán, they are the genuine article as a Hate group.

Nation of Aztlán

I want to form an organization for white people called “The National Council of the Race”.

This organization has no history of lynching anyone, so I can expect the media not to call my organization “racist”, Right? Right?...

Hey, La Raza, just try to go back to Mexico. Texas did it once and will do it again!

She believes the US should give land to Mexico, if she is a member of La Raza, correct? She fits right in with Zero and his disdain for da man.
Those pundits that claimed Obama would be a centrist must feel pretty sheepish, ego permitting.

Good for Tancredo. I'll bet it made that bloated, egotistical balloon Rick Sanchez want to explode.

Tancredo is right, and incredibly brave.

Hope he keeps a 12 gauge close by, for the occasion when local `aggrieved activists’ decide to attempt to punish him for his uppityness.

Yes, I certainly agree about the Aztlan group. Absolutely terrible. It’s a good place to link folks to who think racism only goes one way though. And it’s as anti-Semitic as they come IMO.

As for La Raza, I think they couch their true motives for public consumption. When politicians are saying things like, “Prop 187” was the last dying gasp of White Citizens in California, you know there’s a racial element that is very ingrained in these people.

Mecha is first and foremost a Brown Separatist organization. Both the current Los Angeles Mayor and the former Lt. Governor of California Cruz Bustamante, were members of that group. When Bustamanted was called on it, he refused to walk away from the org or bad mouth it in any way.

They don’t walk away from it because they know they can get away with it. Not only that, they would be in trouble if they did.

Tancredo is always solid on the immigration issue.

Too bad Tom decided to sell out and back Romney in 2008.

Well, we can always be assured that democrats welcome racists.

Who manned the hoses at Selma? Democrats.

Who stood in the doorway in Alabama? A democrat.

Who wrote and supported Jim Crow laws? Democrats.

But what the hell, Sotomayer is an oppressed racist pig who needs her chance to oppress other races and take revenge. That’s enough to qualify this La Raza slut.

Can we get a Seig Heil when she’s confirmed?

Being Hispanic is not a criteria for a Supreme Court seat.

Too much is being made about Soto-The-Hyphenate than her actual judicial record.

La Raza threatens "be respectful and fair" ......

......that's latino for "close your eyes, ears and mouths ....or else we get physical."

In some ways, I think you’re right.

For the first part, I agree. On the second, I just think they see this stance as a real vote getter.

It’s the fastest way to lose my vote.

Oops, sorry, it’s “ethnic pride” when perpetrated by a minority.

My heavens, isn't that the truth?
There's no telling who we're going to get in 2010.......or 2012.
Some of the conservatives seemingly have gone bonkers!

So because “The race” has been around for so long, that makes them....OK? Retarded. The race can rot.
