This CBS News story is a snapshot of where the gay-marriage debate is taking us.
At a rally in West Hollywood, Drew Barrymore revived the old narrative that family structure doesn't matter:
"Children need families, people need to love and we need to move forward, not backward," Barrymore said. "What defines a family? We do!"
A rabbi calls the idea that marriage means a husband and wife "religious bigotry," i.e., not religious liberty.
The headline of the story is Ted Olson's decision to help bring a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Prop 8. I'm not sure the Human Rights Campaign is pleased.
Watch and see whether, after the publicity and the fundraising, this lawsuit disappears. (Is Anthony Kennedy really the fifth vote for a national constitutional right to gay marriage?)
Support for Prop 8 has also grown over the last few months: "A poll of 600 California voters by CBS Station KPIX said 56 percent agree with the Court's decision to uphold Proposition 8."

Well now that we have the talentless, Hollywood Skank opinion, let’s hear what NORMAL folks have to say.
This is the person who should be making my moral decisions?
That’s worth a smile... I often do that when something preposterous is suggested.
I used to support gay marriage to be honest but since I saw how intolerant they are I have changed my mind.
I guess I supported it to be PC ,but to be honest I am happy to see prop 8 upheld by the court
“Children need families, people need to love and we need to move forward, not backward,” Barrymore said.
And she has how many kids????
Sounds like Drew is drinking again.
She sure doesn’t look like Drew Barrymore and what is that skyblue eyeshadow underneath her eyes. The last time I saw something that wierd was a neighbor who thought she was a witch had drawn rectangles in black over her eyes and filled them in with white.
California already gives every right and privilege IT (as a state) possibly can give to civil-union couples, EXCEPT the term “Marriage.”
In California, at least (unlike Florida, Arkansas, etc.), this fight is ALL about nomenclature.
Ok and two gays can make their own kids how?
Is Drew Barrymore a ‘Stonecutter’?
Oh Drew, sky blue eyeshadow is tacky no matter where you put it.
Was it Drew that Flashed Letterman?
Thats Drew Barrymore?
So says a 13-year old cokehead who came from a line of alcoholics. Yep, her family is one to talk of normality.
Have to wonder what adults gave her that cocaine as a child.
Wrong, Drew - God defined the family.
Maybe the question should be WHO, not What, defines a Family.
when do children get to consent to be raised in an alternative lifestyle household?
Also, something that is being masked by the Left. There ARE civil unions in California for persons of the same sex who want to establish a legally protected coupling.
Yes, Drew flashed Letterman on his birthday during the Letterman show.
Later he interviewed one of her costars (the guy who played Robin) and mentioned Drew; he said “So...have you ever seen her...”
Cut off with an abrupt “Oh yes!”
Dave looked disappointed, like he thought he was the only one.
And OF COURSE Drew thinks marriages meaning should be diluted. She seems to “marry” anybody she dates longer than a week.
Ok and two gays can make their own kids how?
###
Well, if they can “be married”, then they can legally adopt kids. A pedophiles wet dream.
Children need families, people need to love and we need to move forward, not backward, Barrymore said.
Children need families = gays being allowed to adopt.
Religious organizations that deny adoption to gay couples would be driven out of the adoption business.
The real intent of gay marriage is not gay marriage. The intent is to dismantle the time honored fabric of society - two parent (man/woman) families.
“People need to love” - this is all for love not hate - don’t you get it?
“We need to move forward, not backward” - the concept of traditional families is a “backward” concept. The forward thinking (illuminated - educated - enlightened) individuals need only apply. Those who oppose this bastardization of marriage are in the dark ages - knuckle dragging, neanderthals.
(Huge Sarcasm tag).
That is the worst picture of her I have seen. She looks way too skinny and gaunt. She usually has some meat on her bones.
I appreciate where you are coming from. For all the talk about hatred and all that, all of the animosity is coming from the gay activists. I have not heard one incident of hatred expressed towards gays in all the campaigning and marches and speeches on this subject. All of the hatred is expressed from the gay marriage people. They hate our society, they hate religion, they hate the rule of law, they hate the concepts of mother and father and family.
I’m actually ok with people having partnership rights. I think it’s ironic that 40 states have no legal status at all for same-sex couples, but they have poured so much time and effort into California, which has a far reaching domestic partner law. And it’s all so they have the legal right to call their partnerships marriage.
I heard one activist say that it’s a shame they have been forced into playing defense on marriage, and that their side spent $40 million in last years election in the losing cause, and how much better that money could have been spent, etc. I just shake my head because there’s no perspectice here. The existing law gave them virtually all rights of marriage and partnership rights. It just didn’t give them the word marriage.
Hey,you talentless whore....kids need a mother and a father....not two bull dykes or two fairies.
“THEY’RE HERE!!”
Yeah, what the hell happened to her? I agree that it doesn’t look like her at all.
Actually no, tootsie - WE DO!
Drew is the poster child for that very dysfunctional Barrimore family...
Drew is the poster child for that very dysfunctional Barrimore family...
that was the peak of her career, lol
“A rabbi calls the idea that marriage means a husband and wife “religious bigotry,” i.e., not religious liberty.”
Must have been a Rabbi from a Deformed Synagague.
Hmmmn - two Fraudian typos in one sentence. And, there is another one.
Enough poking fun at the intellectually crippled.
There is a tendency to forget that Reformed Synagogues are really deformed, not reformed. Sorry for the not too great pun, but De, oops, make that Reformed synagogues go gag me, hence synagague.
‘Nuff pun-ishment to the day.
I guess all of these celebs think skinny is good. LOL
Wierd, isn’t it. She had more personality with a little meat on her bones and she looked a lot better.
“Drew Barrymore revived the old narrative that family structure doesn’t matter”
Drew was in rehab for a drug and alcohol problem at he age of 13. Any questions?
we need to move forward, not backward,”
Awww, isn’t that cute - she is quoting her fearless leader, big “0”

Kelly Osbourne has been marching on a rally in Los Angeles to protest about the new Californian ban on gay weddings.
Ozzy and Sharon’s girl took to the streets to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with gossip queen and gay campaigner Perez Hilton to protest about the re-instatement of Propsal 8, which bans same-sex marriages - after they were legalised briefly last year.
Kelly said: “If you dont support equal rights I dont believe you are a real human being!”
She added: “It was so amazing to be apart of something beautiful!.”
“I am famous, therefore, I am smart.”
These people are separated so far from reality that they just make it all up as they go along in life.
They are desperately unhappy people who see problems wherever they gaze.
I really do pity them.
Winston Churchill once said that “anyone can see what’s wrong; but can you see what’s right?”
Hear, hear.
Rush is right, Liberals are at their funniest when they lose...
“California already gives every right and privilege IT (as a state) possibly can give to civil-union couples, EXCEPT the term Marriage.
...good point....also many other states do likewise...it’s called the Domestic Pardners Act...but that’s not good enough for angry queers....they want us to APPROVE of them and their lifestyle....APPROVAL is what their indignation is all about.
She was very sweet, even as a young adult acting in “chick flicks.” I really liked her. But her face was always unmistakable.
IMO, she’s still looking for the love and approval she never had as a kid. Just hope she’s not re-addicted to any substances. Poor little girl.
How many ex-husbands? Hardly the poster girl for the sanctity of marriage.
She was married to Welsh bartender turned bar owner Jeremy Thomas from March 20 to April 28, 1994. Her second marriage was to comedian Tom Green from July 7, 2001 to October 15, 2002. Green filed for divorce in December 2001. In 2002, Barrymore began dating Strokes’ drummer Fabrizio Moretti, soon after they met at a concert. Their five year relationship, however, ended on January 10, 2007. She most recently dated Justin Long, however, they confirmed their split in July 2008.
In the 1990s Barrymore was frequently described as bisexual, although she said in a 1997 interview that she hadn’t “been with a woman in about two years.” In 2004, she was quoted as saying “A woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful. Being with a woman is like exploring your own body, but through someone else. When I was younger I used to go with lots of women. Totally. I love it”. In March 2007, former magazine editor Jane Pratt claimed on her Sirius Satellite Radio show that she had a romance with Barrymore in the mid-nineties.
Barrymore was formerly a vegetarian, but has since begun to eat meat
And they INSIST to be called “married”,
so as to UNdefine marriage.
I liked her movies too.
At least you know who she is in that pic.
Well, her current appearance makes me think she's hoping that Lindsay Lohan will make a pass at her. All Drew needs is a weird hat and she'd look like LiLo's strange ex-whatever.
Kelly Osborne looks like one of the Pep boys: a great big head on top of a little tiny body. Why does everyone in Hollywood want to be emaciated?
