I took CPR and First Aid to get out of two semesters of gym back in High School. It got me out of gym class and it was a very interesting thing to learn and quite useful, too. When it was done I was accredited or whatever the designation was.
I don’t know about requiring it but making it available for credit is aok in my book.
Curious. What are your feelings about shop class, home economics, or personal finance classes?
It's the first I've heard that it was ineffective.
If I went down I would hope someone around me knew CPR.
But hey what do I know?
“Seems like a good idea to me.”
Me too. Sure beats the hell out of another seminar about diversity.

There is no place for them in the schools. School should end at about age fourteen. People who want to take such couses would take them voluntarily.
At my last CPR class I was told that survivability after cardiac event that requires CPR is 10%. I dont know whether they are cooking the stats for baby boomers or whether their data now is more reliable.
I’m curious as to what effect this would have legally. I mean, if another student collapses, woulkd the other students be obligated to help? If they were trained and did nothing, would they be sued ? If they HELPED and did it incorrectly, or even if it was done correctly the “patient” was injured (broken ribs, etc), would they be sued?
are there “good samaritan” laws there?
sounds like a legal can of worms.
