Fearing the next terror attack could emerge from America's growing Somali refugee population, federal authorities have stepped up surveillance in Somali communities – including a large enclave just outside Washington.
In fact, WND has learned that the Baileys Crossroads area of Northern Virginia – about 10 miles from the capital – was a critical focus of security investigations in advance of the presidential inauguration in January.
Investigators say a troubling number of the area's Somali men hold "militant" anti-American views and sympathize with al-Qaida. They typically work as taxi drivers, gathering at local coffeehouses during their breaks, as well as at a nearby mosque tied to 9/11.
Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., which assisted at least two of the al-Qaida hijackers, has a large representation of Somali immigrants. Investigators say a former Dar al-Hijrah imam is now working with al-Qaida to arm and recruit fighters – including Americans – for the holy war in Somalia.
"Somalis were the hot topic during the inauguration, and they still are," said a senior investigator assigned to the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington. "They're very militant, and they're all over that area."
Authorities estimate the Washington area is home to about 6,000 Somalis, most of whom are Muslim.
Another troubling hotspot is Minneapolis, where individuals have traveled to Somalia to train with an al-Qaida-backed terror wing called Al-Shabab, which means "the youth" in Arabic.
The FBI has launched investigations in the thriving Somali community of 70,000 there, questioning local men suspected of being radicalized. Last year, some 20 young Somali men – all American citizens – left to join the jihad.

Paul Sperry wrote the outstanding book “Infiltration” about the jihadi activity in Northern Virginia (”the Wahabbi Highway”).
Everything he’s talking about in this article really pertains to the Skyline apartment/condo complex, the shopping center across Rt. 7 from Skyline, the two small Muslim shopping strips in that same area, and the Dar al Hijra mosque just a very short drive (1 mile? less?) west on Rt. 7.
The Starbucks in the shopping mall is ALWAYS full of Somali/North African taxi drivers (often 25 to 50 Yellow Cabs in the parking lot), and looks like something out og Mogadish.
In addition to producing several real live terrorists, and being the former favorite of at least one bin Laden brother, Dar al Hijra mosque just up the street is where all of these people go and is also known as the place where several 9/11 hijackers came for support and obtained their false ID cards.
Such a wonderful neighborhood being cultivated just across the Potomac from downtown DC.
I don’t know how many Muslims and jihadis actually “work” at the airports (Reagan and Dulles), but the Dulles taxicab monopoly “Washington Flyer Taxi” is 100 percent Muslim, or pretty close to it.

I drove past it last weekend (i.e., in the parking lot 10 feet away from the front door) and it still looks like the Mogadishu portrayed in "Blackhawk Down".

As I read it, they made their contacts at the Dar al Hijra mosque, took a 1/2 mile drive to the Culmore 7-11, made contact with one of the illegal alien fake-ID brokers there, and drove down to Springfield “express” DMV to actually do the applications.
They used the address of one of the red brick apartment buildings right next to the Sunoco and 7-11 at Culmore (said apartments being a **notorious** haven for illegals in Northern VA).
This is all in Sperry’s book including photos, but I’d known about it long before the book came out in about 2005.
Little known fact published by the Wash Post back in 2002/2003: the “DC Snipers” were stopped **THREE TIMES** by Fairfax County Police in that little 1 mile stretch between Skyline and Dar al Hijra while doing their mayhem. Minor infractions and they were not even ticketed, but the pullover reports were made.

Another reason time for secession is at hand again. Maybe this time those wanting to go should just sue for divorce and maybe the liberal courts will let them. Any of them are capable of finding loopholes in the Constitution so this may just be one of them. Specifically about Northern Va, well, West Virginia split away from Virginia during the War between the States so perhaps Southern Va, say south of Fredricksburg could split off now now if they so decided too and leave the Jim Moran (Moron) electees with the DC Crowd.

36,600 people born in Somalia, over 8,300 people with Somali ancestry not born in
Somalia, and over 5,600 Somali speakers not born in Somalia nor of Somali ancestry.
When summed together these three subgroups total more than 50,000 individuals.
Before discussing the situation of those included in the census it is important to
note that many Somalis residing in the US were missed by this census.

They are victims of war and some would say yes, bringing them here is the Christian thing to do. There are outreach programs in the city trying to bridge all religions together.

I don’t think people here realize that most “brown people” you are labeling “somali” are actually amharic-speaking ethiopians- and many are christian (ethiopia is more-or-less equally split between christian and muslim). Particularly around Skyline/Rt 7 many of the coffee shops and restaurants are ethiopian (and as coffee is native to ethiopia, most ethiopians are coffee-addicts!). When you group Somalis and Ethiopians, Muslim and Christian, Amharic and Arabic speakers together on the basis of skin tone and then make negative comments about the entire group, you really do deserve the label “racist”.
As a white resident of Arlington, I’m happy to live in a diverse community that welcomes refugees and supports their integration into American society (and I act on my views- volunteer teaching a local ESL class to help immigrants assimilate). Native residents making hateful and ignorant comments, perpetrating stereotypes and divisions, is part of why segregated non-English-speaking extremist communities develop. I challenge anyone truly concerned about isolated extremist groups to reach out and get to know your neighbors- old-fashioned community is the best way to combat extremism, NOT increasing taxes to fund a militarized no-privacy police-state.
(also btw a particularly good Ethiopian restaurant is Meaza, located at the intersection of Rt 7 and Columbia Pike- everyone should give it a try- delicious!)
