Nearly half of the predominantly Iraqi-refugees residing in Vännäs in northern Sweden have decided to permanently move out of the area after being terrorized by what police called “a lynch mob” in early May.
“I thought that Vännäs was the perfect place for us. And there are many, many friendly people here. But we still don’t dare to stay; I’m seriously concerned about my children’s safety,” said father of five Ismail Ramadan to the Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) newspaper.
Ramadan’s family and several others have decided to abandon plans of starting a life in the small community outside of Umeå less than two weeks after a group of 30 to 50 young people assembled outside the apartment building in which the refugees lived and began shouting threats and throwing stones.
The May 9th incident resulted in several broken windows and many frightened refugees.
“I can’t even describe to you how horrible it was. ‘Now it’s over, here they come!’ I thought,” Ramadan told SvD.
“We all cried and screamed. We spent the whole night lying in the hall and held each other tightly.”
The weekend of harassment prompted municipality refugee coordinator Ingrid Lindroth to evacuate the refugees to safety.
“I made the decision after speaking with a number of refugees who were extremely scared – simply terrified. It was an easy decision,” she told SvD.
But the move was criticized by police, who characterized the decision to evacuate around 40 refugees as “significantly more drastic” than necessary, adding that it complicated the police’s investigation into the incident.
“We don’t believe this is a racially motivated dispute, but rather a disagreement between a number of young people, some of whom live in the refugee building and others from the area,” said local police commander Uno Nilsson to SvD the at the time of the incident.
According to the Västerbotten-Kuriren newspaper, the dispute began when a group of local youths confronted a refugee boy about the assault of a local girl which took place Tuesday night.
The initial school yard confrontation, during which the refugee boy was pressed for information rather than accused of involvement in the assault, but was also allegedly pushed to the ground, escalated during the course of the week through subsequent run ins, culminating in the weekend's disturbances.
The day following the attacks, several hundred Vännäs residents gathered to demonstrate in support of the refugees and to denounce what they perceived to be racially motivated attacks.
While the families were welcomed back to Vännäs with flowers after the evacuation, about 30 out of the roughly 70 refugees have ultimately decided to move out of the community of 4,000 residents, much to the dismay of local politicians.
“It’s not confirmed that they will leave yet, but if they do, it is obviously a failure on our part. No one should need to leave Vännäs because they are afraid or worried,” municipal council member Johan Söderling told the newspaper.
Police are also still investigating the matter in hopes of clarifying exactly what took place and who or what may have lay behind the attack.
Prosecutor Lotta Sundström expected it would take at least several more days for her office to make sense of the more than 20 different complaints which have been submitted.
“No one has yet been informed that they are suspected of a crime,” she said to SvD.
Perhaps this conflict actually had little to do with ethnic/racial matters initially, still it is yet another example that Sweden, as well as most other European countries, must rethink their asylum and immigration policies.
If we goodhearted, Christian, Westerners wish to help civilians who flee from wars etc. in Third World countries, we should do so by providing their neighbor countries with the means necessary to provide asylum to such refugees.
Europe of today is swamped by refugees. Would it equal Racism to simply refuse to let in more of them?
Wishing to preserve ones own ethnic identity does not equal Racism, but politicians who fail to understand this are the best friends genuine Racist movements could ever have.
Furthermore, why do we Swedes have to deal with this issue in the first place?
We Swedes, just like the people of all other nations, should focus on looking after our own house, not trying to become the social security office of the world.

I’m not buying this story it sounds like another PC lynching by a reporter. They never specifically mentioned who or what group targeted these refugees from Islam. (why leave an Islamic state if it is so good)

I agree with your statement. The notion of 'diversity' makes us strong is pure bunk. There is no way to unify people by focusing on all their differences.
Also, try moving to Japan and becoming Japanese or to Germany and becoming German. Can't happen, just as any black or brown person can never become a Swede. There seems to be a forced attempt to 'blend' cultures in Europe. Suppress the native culture and allow the injected culture to modify it.

I don't know about the Iraqis in Vännäs, but whether they are Christian or Muslims, Sweden have allowed to many refugees asylum.
IMO, the West should act swiftly, in union and with all the force necessary when Christians anywhere on this globe are harassed and even physically attacked.

In the 1930s, many Communist street fighters of Berlin “converted” to the SA simply because it was no fun belonging to the weaker team.

I suspect there’s more to this incident than is being reported here. People don’t generally rise up and show this type of anger, unless there’s been something boiling under the surface for a while.
I don’t particularly care for stoning someone’s home. I think that’s just basic hooliganism, but I am curious what drove these kids to do it.
A town of 4,000 is generally a fairly friendly tight group. What caused some of them to go postal? Something a lot more than one small incident, is my guess.
I think the reporter is being dishonest.
We hear that a Swedish girl was "assaulted" (raped?), presumably by one or more "immigrants". We then hear about a "school yard confrontation". The report then glosses over "subsequent run ins", which I'm suspecting involved immigrants hunting down the Swedes involved in the "school yard confrontation", and finally getting the local Swedes having enough of putting up with them.
The Iraqis found out that at least a few Swedes remember that they are descended from Vikings and are not the beaten down Christian dhimmis they are used to in Iraq.

I am still pretty big and have over 300 fights to my credit (grew up as one of the only white kids in ghettos, one of the only American kids in Munich, and 20+ years playing hockey). I would not want to mess with the hooligans. They really know how to pummel and could not care less about getting their face smashed in because it will be another 12 hours before the alcohol wears off.
I would love to watch them pummel the "youths". Heck, I might join in for old times sake.

I will add, some people immigrate and act cordial and friendly. Other people immigrate and act haughty and above everyone else. The later group has a chip on it’s shoulder, and seemingly dares anyone to knock it off.
That later group will reap a ton of hostility. They probably won’t understand why, but the reason is obvious.
I have known people who were just like myself, except for their attitude. Because of this, everyone found them to be a major pain and disliked them. This isn’t always a matter of race.
It’s a matter of some people being complete assholes and others being very cordial and friendly.
I agree. I will also say that Western Nations are far too quick to grant people refugee status. Iraq has settled down quite a bit. People should be able to go back home now. I would prefer that they do it.
Stay with people who share your cultural preferences, and leave the West to it’s cultural preferences.

If all of Europe decided to more or less halt all immigration this marvelous continent could avoid a severe tragedy.
If we Europeans stop importing Muslims from Third World countries now, it could actually all work. European Muslims don't seem to multiply as rapidly as some have feared and many European Muslims have in fact either fled the Islamofascism of their native countries or originate from places and societal contexts where traditional Islam matters little (like the Westernized middle class of Iran).
I like to be respectful of everyone. In the case of Islam and Christianity existing side by side, I have to say that Christianity loses.
Either that or hostility will surely result. The Islamic goal is to take over completely. Where we have seen that take place, the rights of non-Islamic peoples cease to exist.
My vision of multiculturalism, is that everyone ought to have a place on our planet where they can live as they choose, within reason, some vile human cultures including criminal acts being the exception.
Thus the Islamic people have a place to live as they choose. Christians should have a place like that too. I pretty much hold that even some racial boundaries remain somewhat constant. I don’t think the White populace should be allowed to flood Mexico and take over. On the other hand, I don’t think the citizens of Mexico should be able to flood into the U.S. and take over.
White Christians have as much right as any other ethnic group to exist as a majority in some nations.
So what I am really advocating, is not something to so much put limits on other peoples, as to protect the rights of all peoples.
Do we wish to come to a place in time some 25 to 50 years from now, when White northern European decedents will not have majority self-rule status in any existing nation on the earth?
That’s where we are headed. I don’t have animosity toward any race, but I do think mine should also be able to continue. That’ why I stand up and object to where things are headed. It’s not out of hate of others. I honestly love others. It’s out of love for my own kind.

Sweden gave them refuge, a safe haven for awhile. If they stay they are no longer refugees but immigrants flying false colors.
I agree. People should be able to read those words of mine and understand that I am not trying to say that I don’t want any representation of other cultures here. I am saying that our culture has value, and should also exist. And in some nations, it should dominate. In other nations, I support different cultures dominating.
