Don’t tell them it is really an herb, but do tell them it grows wild in Europe and is a weed. Probably a lot of escaped rocket in the States, too, come to think of it. Lots of folks who have a specific gene for tasting bitter cannot stand it.

It is as sensible as growing mint, I suppose. Yes, I planted mint. It keeps the _other_ weeds down on a patch of hillside I am trying to reclaim from its past life as a hog yard. And it smells good when I walk through it. Oh, and it has a pretty-colored flower. H’mmmmmmmmm. Beats arugala on two counts!

Sell any leftover arugala seeds in a basket with mesclun and mustard seeds in the fall for Winter container gardens. You know those old hippies all have hydroponics going!

Arugula isn't too bad if it is blanched. Staple of Italian peasants for many centuries. Hey, even the Greeks eat dandelions.

When I was in Washington State, I got a kick out of all the wild Lavender that was growing along the highway, even though it is an import from Europe.

Yep. We have a certain breed of customer at the garden center that we know by heart. They’re looking for closet-sized grow-light racks with super-high powered bulbs and bags of bat guano in the dead of winter. ;)
