US CO2 goals 'to be compromised' (due to domestic political opposition - Steven Chu)
BBC News ^ | 5/21/09 | Roger Harrabin

US Energy Secretary Steven Chu says the US will not be able to cut greenhouse emissions as much as it should due to domestic political opposition.

Prof Chu told BBC News he feared the world might be heading towards a tipping point on climate change.

This meant the US had to cut emissions urgently - even if compromises were needed to get new laws approved.

Environmentalists said Prof Chu, a Nobel physicist, should be guided by science not politics.

The American political system is in the throes of a fierce battle over climate policy. President Barack Obama says he wants cuts in greenhouse gases but has left it to Congress to make the political running.

The House of Representatives is debating a climate and energy bill but even if it passes it may be rejected by senators, many of whom are funded by the energy industry.

Prof Chu is a Nobel prize-winning physicist and a world expert on clean energy. But he said it was impossible to ignore political reality.

"With each successive year the news on climate change has not been good and there's a growing sensation that the world and the US in particular has to get moving," he said.

"As someone very concerned about climate I want to be as aggressive as possible but I also want to get started. And if we say we want something much more aggressive on the early timescales that would draw considerable opposition and that would delay the process for several years.

The US energy secretary said that awareness of climate tipping points had increased greatly only in the past five years. He added: "But if I am going to say we need to do much, much better I am afraid the US won't get started."

"With each successive year the news on climate change has not been good and there's a growing sensation that the world and the US in particular has to get moving," he said.

I anxiously await the citing any specific examples of the annual adverse tidings of which Dr. Chu speaks. I mean, being a Nobel prize winner and all.

Well, I’m not sure about them but I like breathing so I can’t help expelling CO2.

"Prof Chu told BBC News he feared the world might be heading towards a tipping point on climate change."

He's partly right. We are heading towards a "tipping point". Not on the so-called climate change issue, though.

I think we need to talk directly to the High School Students. The fact that many of the High Schools in the United States have parking lots and allow their students to drive to school is a clear indication that Global Warming is a hoax. With the power of the School Boards, this activity could end in an instant if there truly was a threat. What I mean is, driving to high school is a luxury, and most schools have buses that pick students up. Students that drive to school get to because the administration allows it. If the intelligentsia is concerned about the environment and the evil car (internal combustion engine) is the culprit, this activity could be drastically curtailed. If the Student needed to drive they have to prove why they need one. The would be required to fill out a permit and explain the reason this should reviewed by some board or panel and it should take weeks to get a reply (this would get them conditioned to the red tape involved with dealing with government), Days they do not have a need they should be forced to ride the bus or walk.

The reason they don’t? It would anger the students and they would start questioning the Climate hysteria. They would demand proof. The Student’s would be skeptical and would start rebelling if the proof wasn’t clear. They want to softly indoctrinate and boil the frog sort of speak. They do not want to turn the Student’s off or have them focus on the manipulation. In a true crisis this luxury would be enacted immediately and the facts would support the decision. The Student must understand that they are being used like the Blacks, and the Gays. The Statist is always exploiting the Student and always will. Hundreds of High Schools support large parking lots and many High Schools students drive and are contributing to the damage of Mother Earth or are they?

It’s one thing to gripe and complain about these things and disagree with it, but it’s quite *another* to convince your friends and neighbors and relatives and coworkers...

THEREFORE..., it’s also absolutely necessary for people to know the information in the following documentary. If there were simply *one* video that you could see and/or show people you know... this would be the *one*...

The following is an *excellent* video documentary on the so-called “Global Warming” I would recommend it to all FReepers. It’s a very well-made documentary.

“The Great Global Warming Swindle”

If you want to download it, via a BitTorrent site (using a BitTorrent client), you can get it at the following link.
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3635222/The_Great_Global_Warming_Swindle
[this is a high-quality copy, of about a gigabyte in size...]

It’s worth seeing and having for relatives, friends, neighbors and coworkers to see.

Also, see it online here...

[this one is considerably lower quality, is a flash video and viewable online, of course...]

Buy it here...

[this one would be the very highest quality version, on a DVD disk, of several gigabytes in size...]

Also, in split parts on YouTube...

Can anyone imagine 20 years ago that those in charge of the United States of America would be dummer than dirt? How did we get to where we are today? It is utterly incomprehensible that stupidity is so rampant in our society. I guess the only explantation is “follow the money”. These Marxist elitist sombitches rule because the dumbing down of America has finally trumped sanity.
