Feeling bruised and abused this morning? Well, you can't say you didn't see it coming. The polls have been saying for weeks that voters were going to do just what they did on Tuesday: Conclusively reject your slate on the ballot, Propositions 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D and 1E.
(Excerpt) Read more at sacbee.com ...
This is what appeared this morning before it was pulled -- no doubt because of the furor it caused among readers, and the little fact that el Rushbo mentioned it today on his show as a snarky example of the disdain with which the drive-by's regard the great masses of the unwashed, aka: the Proletariat.
Editorial: You did it! Uh, so what now?Good morning, California voters. Do you feel better, now that you've gotten that out of your system?
You wanted to show the state's politicians just how mad you are at them. And you did. Boy, did you ever.
Proposition 1A with its taxes and its spending limit? Too much of one and not enough of the other, you said (or was it the other way around), and voted it down. Never mind that the taxes go into efffect anyway. You showed 'em.
Proposition 1B? That was a tougher call.
Proposition 1C? No way. You like the lottery just like it is. And all they were going to do with that extra $5 billion was spend it.
Propositions 1D and 1E? Forget it. You had already voted to put money into preschool and mental health programs. You're not taking it out now.
And 1F? Heck, yeah! Let's not pay our legislators if they can't pass a budget on time. So what if it likely won't have any effect, or that this year they actually passed a budget months earlier than they needed to? That's not the point.
The point is that you're sick and tired of all this political mumbo-jumbo. So you showed those politicians who's in charge. You. You're now officially in charge of a state that will be something like $25 billion in the hole for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
So, now that you've put those irksome politicians in their place, maybe it's time to think about this: Since you're in charge, exactly what do you intend
...That sounds a lot like work, you say? Sorry, no whining allowed. You asked for this job. Now you've got it, so get on it. Oh, and remember. The entire nation is watching to see how you do now that you're in charge.
Later in the day, the offensive editorial was removed and replaced with a more "reasonable" one that sided with voters. When contacted by show producer Dave Logan to inquire why the switch out, Melanie Sill, Sacbee editor and senior vice president, Editorial Administration Department, claimed the first editorial was a draft of notes, "thoughts" put together on a page, and because they were on deadline, someone mistakenly published the piece. It was never intended to be published. "It was a mistake", she assured him. I bet it was.
Ms. Sill assured Dave that this "mistake" appeared only in the online edition. The Sacbee's paper version went out with the current editorial. We checked the morning edition and she's correct.
Has it ever happened before? "Yes," she admitted. "But nothing like this."
Indeed...
Note to our readers: Many of the comments below refer to an article that was posted in error. That article was a draft prepared for internal discussion among members of The Bee's editorial board. Such discussions are a routine part of our work, and frequently lead to editorials that are considerably different from writers' first drafts.
That's what happened in this case. After discussion, we decided that our initial editorial about the special election should take a different tack. The result was the editorial that now appears on this page. This editorial is the only editorial about the special election that appeared in Wednesday's editions of The Bee.

The Sacramento Bee is as irrelevant as their McClatchy ugly step-sister here, the Raleigh News & Observer. Ugh!
LOL what a bunch of clowns. No wonder the media is dying a far too slow and not nearly painful enough death.
A perfect way to keep subscribers: show that your opinions are in lock-step with the mindset of your clientele. So chalk this up as example #427,866 why it’s the liberals who are the out-of-touch extremists.
“LOL what a bunch of clowns.”
Yep and pretty soon they will have their little clown cars to drive around!
I’m glad my F150s are user friendly.
Unfortunately I can see the government pulling them off the road and forcing me to buy from them.
ROTFLMAO
It is fun to watch ‘em squirm though.
Conservative: Oh, please LET us....
These “journalists” are incompetent hacks, simply amazing that they are even hired to write!
in 5 years the SacBee will NOT EXIST! buh-bye..!
Isn’t “the sac” one of those Democrat big city papers that’s dying?
As I've said before, the media could instigate a flaming, bloody national tax revolt in 2 months without even breathing hard.
Instead, it's "Rah, Rah, Sis Boom Bah! More Taxes! Better!" all freaking day long.
The readers comments on the editorial were so loud and nasty you could hear them in Florida!
"You can blame the voters for reacting with uninformed and misplaced anger. Or you can look in the mirror and admit you had it coming. And you know you did. Over the last couple of decades you and your predecessors in both parties created an environment of cynicism that poisoned Californians' faith in democracy."
Yep, the reason that voters didn't pass this crap is that they're uninformed. Their anger is misplaced--they should be mad at...George Bush, I guess. Voters just didn't have enough "faith in democracy"...so they VOTED.
A new low in cowardice . . . even for Liberals.
I’m sure that Andrea Shea King is the closest thing the Bee has to a fat welfare momma. Affirmative Action/fat welfare momma - same thing.
I’m curious if Andrea Shea King has 5 or 10 drunk boyfriends at her section 8 apartment.
Thanks for the original...and its replacement.
Not only is the media liberal. They are also deep down dishonest.
They should be ashamed of themselves. But they don't know shame...
They are not in their place until they are in the unemployment line.
I can’t believe they changed the title AND the text! LOL. What a bunch of wimps!
Freerepublic caught it before the change.

In the comments now up commenting on the Stalinist rewriting of their editorial and it’s comments there are now eight links to the original FR thread. I expect that there will soon be a lot of new Central Valley Freepers as a result.
I noticed one link (I only back one page in the comments).
Readers are obviously (and justifiably) insulted.
ASS*OLE ELITISTS! They will find out they are irrelevant soon enough..
Amazing how in November, the voters were enlightened, informed, responsible, rational, insightful, prescient and brilliant. After all, they overwhelmingly elected The Messiah. Now, only a few short months later, voters are stupid, ignorant, short sighted and self centered whiners.
I will cheer when the Sac Bee, like other liberal Obama cheerleaders in the DBM bites the dust.
Some call it the “Excremento Bee”........
Not just the politicians in the unemployment line, but 100,000 CA State employees. They’ve got do-nothing, suck on the taxpayer tit non-jobs. There are 75,000 more of these parasites than there were 15 years ago! At least most parasites know how to avoid killing their host. These parasites are stupid as a hairball and are most definitely killing the host.
My favorite quote today:
“If you look at the history of special elections in California, it appears to me that they dont work.
People just dont like being told to go back to the polls.”
—Arnold Schwarzenegger, May 20, 2009
A better quote would have been:
“If you look at the vote, it is clear that voters are fed up with bloated government and demand
massive cuts in the size and scope of government. We will deliver.”
Dear Mizzz Sill. It appears that your staff if woefully incompetent. But then you’re all liberal stooges, and that makes that assertion redundant.
Where the HELL did you get Andrea Shea King from????
Andrea She King is a Freeper, host her own conservative politics radio station of Patriot Radio and is an extremely well spoken, intelligent, on point conservative who’ve I’ve personally met and was highly impressed with.
The report on Limbaugh came from her website, no author is quoted in the original Bee story only the editors explanation re. the original story.
You owe her an huge apology.
Please ask the Mod’s to correct your post re: Andrea Shea King being the writer of the SacBee story.
Andrea She King had this story on her Radio Patriot page but did not write the original story.
As you can see from a comment on here, at least one freeper belived she was the writer of the original story and made statements against Andrea.
Thanks
Oh duh!!! You ARE Andrea!!! Grin.....but you know what I meant.....lol
moonberg wrote on 05/20/2009 01:37:57 PM:I'm curious about this free republic version of the Bee editorial. It appears to have been posted by a "SmithL" and all the comments following it are addressed to SmithL. What is free republic and how do we know that what is published there is what it is purported to be? I'm not arguing with anyone, just wondering what is going on here and wanting to look deeper.
Wait until one of the other Editors get a dose of guilt and spills the beans.
Wonder how many subscriptions were canceled today. LOL

Sorry for the confusion.
My original post about this can be found at my blogsite:

PS I don’t have 5 to 10 boyfriends at my section 8 apartment. At last count it was only three! LOL...
I didn’t figure you had 5 to 10 in your apt, 3-4 sounded better....grin
Michelle Malkin has picked up the story...

ruh-roh! They’ve got your ticket! LOL.
Excellent work in saving the original!
There’s at least four links to your post in the SacBee comments section.
“Some thoughts on those angry voters. Ask parents of any two-year-old and they can tell you about those temper tantrums: the stomping feet, the rolling eyes, the screaming. It's clear that the anger controls the child and not the other way around. It's the job of the parent to teach the child to control the anger and channel it in a positive way. Imagine a nation full of uncontrolled two-year-old rage. The voters had a temper tantrum last week....Parenting and governing don't have to be dirty words: the nation can't be run by an angry two-year-old.”
— ABC World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings in his daily ABC Radio commentary, November 14.
Those journos just don't like having their tax buddies lose, do they?
bttt
The second editorial is rather reasonable. The first is insulting. No wonder they are shedding readers.
WOW! First I’ve seen the voting %’s - what an awesome / awe inspiring statement it makes!
Amazing, isn't it? "Democracy" no longer means that the people vote to make political decisions. It evidently means that people support the power of government to oversee "fairness" and to "empathize" with people.
In order to be "democratic" we must all support every "feel-good" bit of legislation passed by those who know better than we what is good for us.
Oops, targetted the wrong person. My humble apolgies to Andrea King.
