TALLAHASSEE -- State Sen. Jim King, a Jacksonville Republican and 22-year veteran of the Legislature, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the lawmaker's longtime spokeswoman said Saturday.
During a recent routine post-legislative session checkup, Senator Jim King was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. While Senator King plans to seek additional medical counsel and aggressive treatment, he is aware that this particular type of cancer is difficult to treat and manage, and that the outcomes are, at best, guarded," said Sarah Bascom, a political consultant and longtime spokeswoman for King, in a statement.

Food for thought.
the Schiavo treatment isn’t looking so good to him now
How is that related?
He helped orchestrate her death by starvation/dehydration. But according to the article, he plans to fight for his own life.
Let’s be good Christians about it and offer him our prayers for a full and speedy recovery.
Prayers for him, his family, and his friends.
Of course. I wouldn’t wish him the same fate he advocates for the masses. I pray not only for his health, but for his soul.
He helped orchestrate her death ..
how wonderful. Charming, in fact.
I will sit out sending him my best thoughts and wishes, and say nothing else.
Maybe this will be a learning experience for him.
Sad for him.
The guy who looked like Jabba?
Yep. The guy who stuffed his face with fried chicken while deciding the fate of Terri Schiavo.
He chose the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Now, why does that ring a bell?
Oh yeah, William P. Cheshire, M.D. ( http://www.mayoclinic.org/bio/11736755.html ).
I believe that, within a reasonable degree of medical certainty, there is a greater likelihood that Terri is in a minimally conscious state than a persistent vegetative state, wrote William P. Cheshire Jr., after the board certified neurologist recently visited the severely brain-damaged woman for 90 minutes and examined her medical records. ( http://www.floridabaptistwitness.com/4078.article )
Now, why would Jim King choose a hospital that was on the opposite side of this fight against Terri Schiavo? Could it be that he wants someone advocating for him the way they advocated for Terri? Could it be that he doesn’t want for himself what he wanted for Terri?
>Maybe this will be a learning experience for him.
We can hope that, in fact, you are right and that he does not pay the final price for such an education.
I found nearly everything about that entire tragedy personally repugnant.
Thank you for your post. - bill
Agreed. Too many lives have already been sacrificed for that lesson. Let’s hope he finally learns the lesson, without throwing away any more lives.
He wrote made a law so that his dog could be buried w/him someday. It was not Jim’s law. Anyone in Fla can be buried w/their dog.
He’s not a nice man. That’s all I have to say on the matter.
Is there any requirement for the dog to be dead first? If so, how does he plan to accomplish that? The Schiavo method is illegal to use on dogs.
You should read the comments at the link. It seems there are a few folks that aren’t too happy with Jim King’s legacy.
BB, I’m not sure if the dog would be on ice or if the dog gets bumped off when Jim or Fla dog owners are called to the pearly gates for judgment day.
Oh, I forgot about the lap dances at “the shack.”
He thinks women are property that should be thrown into the grave at will. I don’t know if he thinks dogs are better than women, or if he thinks they should be buried alive with their masters.
Eww. I bet the dancer didn’t forget. Though I’m sure she’d like to.
Promising news re: treating liver cancer

Jim King is in the Hospice Hall of Fame. There’s actually a Hall of Fame.
Wow. That does look promising.
I read something recently about a vaccine for lung cancer. Lucanix is in Phase III clinical trials. It’s reported to show promise in extending survival rates up to four times among Stage II and above lung cancer patients.
Sen. Jim King
Probably because he is from the Jacksonville area and because the Mayo clinic is in Jacksonville and because it is a great hospital. Call me crazy.
Do you think he’ll be taking advantage of the “death with dignity” legislation that he proudly calls his legacy? Or do you think that was just for the little people?
Perhaps words from the Bible would be of comfort now:
God is not mocked. What a man sows, he reaps.
You know, Terry Schiavo did not die a death with any dignity. She was starved and dehydrated, something we did not even do to terrorists.
It was real torture and lasted for thirteen days.
There was no mercy for her.
That those who were complicit in her torturous death should expect mercy—well, that’s above my paygrade.
And he does have other hospitals to choose from. I’m sure he could find one of the doctors who sided with him against Terri Schiavo, if that’s really what he wanted.
Funny how the Mayo Clinic was a bunch of quacks when they sided with Terri Schiavo, but now that it’s Jim King’s life we’re talking about, it’s a great hospital.
Who said that the Mayo clinic was full of quacks? You are full of it.
Terri wasn’t allowed to be treated with the dignity she deserved, but she never lost her own dignity. They tried to take her dignity, but it was never theirs to take.
The enemies of Terri Schiavo who posted here, and all over the Internet. Everyone who spoke up on behalf of Terri Schiavo was verbally attacked for it. It would be difficult to avoid knowing that.
Then it should be very easy for you to find one contemporaneous account of someone calling the Mayo clinic “quacks” or something similar. Good luck.
Yeah, I guess I need to break out the ignore button for this troll. I was going to honor his request to do the googling for him, but when I started, there were literally thousands of sites. Only a total moron could find a way to remain ignorant of the foul things the death mongers said about Terri’s allies.
Arthur Caplan and Ronald Cranford were frequently quoted as “experts” on Terri Schiavo, brain injuries and ethics, despite the facts. They both had vile insults for Dr. Wm. Cheshire from Mayo. The New York Slimes had a few goofy articles portraying the Mayo Clinic as a bunch of quacks. As evidence, they accused Dr. Cheshire of being a Christian (as though that was proof of quackery) and named the church he attended. They even used his standing at the Mayo Clinic as proof of his quackery. Democratic Underground was in full agreement with all of Terri’s enemies, including the trolls who wandered our own hallowed halls.
Point well taken,BB.
I have prayed that he will see the light now.
Maybe he will come to his senses and publicly admit that he was wrong.
according to this he is about to die

State Senator Jim King in Grave Condition
he probably won’t have to be dehydrated
Jim King is responsible for writing the end of life statutes in place in Florida. He considers them his “legacy”.
It gives competent adults the right to make their own decision about treatment during illness.
Not exactly. It actually takes away patients' rights, and transfers those rights to others.
I still pray that King finds God, and decides not to burn in hell.
