I think the author was right when he said the Scripture verses were used to provide encouragement, wrong when he said they were used to justify the war. It would be disturbing if the Bush administration invaded Iraq because they thought it would fulfill some biblical prophecy. It's always bad news when human beings don't leave it to God to fulfill His words. But that isn't what President Bush or Donald Rumsfeld did.
And I admit to ignorance as to Rumsfeld's "piety". I don't know how religious he is, if religious at all. But I would not jump to the conclusion that he put in the Bible verses to "curry favor".

Big deal, Clinton’s advisers covered Bosnian War briefing papers with “Juggs” magazines.

The people who leaked this are weenies, possibly traitors. This story will do great harm to the Republic, of which these weenies are Enemies.

I’d be curious to know the source of the GQ magazine article.

Thank you So Much for the Ping, Irish Rose! God Bless Donald Rumsfeld! With you, I don't Think he Put the Scriptures there to 'Curry Favor,' but Wrote them because he Believed in them and in the Justness and Rightness of our Mission. I had Read a Few Years Ago that he is a Christian. I Pray our Savior Raises Up More Good Men in our Government just Like him.
Thank you Again, Dear Sister in Christ; it was a Blessing to Read this!

I call “BS” on this one; the timing on this coincides with the Notre Dame debacle...and is designed to marginalize the well-formed conscience in public debate by illustrating the potential for abuse.
