So, do you have any tricks for knowing the correct usage of effect vs. affect? To truly understand split infinitives was an eye-opening experience for me. Now I am a changed person.

I am hoping that it stays confined to the Austin area.

so, the unemployment rate should go down in CA;AZ etc and go up in Texas.

Was in Austin last Sept (going back for Decoration Day weekend to play some golf) and EVERYTHING was under construction - roads, buildings, houses, condos...with help wanted signs all over the place.

I hope it hasn't changed.

Maybe we should confront that problem. Just a thought but couldn’t the state adopt a policy where you have to have residency for a certain number of years before you can run for any office? Haven’t thought it out completely but thought I would throw it out for everyone to tear up or think about.

It saddens me to say this, but you folks in TX are going to suddenly find yourselves getting overrun and outvoted by people with political disconnect syndrome.

I’ve had my eye on TX for a while now as a place to eventually escape the NJ Gulag, but this news makes me think that things will go downhill fast after they get better initially. It’ll be a shame; it’s a beautiful state with a lot of character.

Don’t take anything for granted. The statist cancer is sneaky, persistent disease. It’ll take over your schools and your government if you aren’t paying attention.

Looks like I need to look for a different state to escape to.

Looking at military senior retirement communities in San Antonio. Any advise, or should I stay in Maine?

To all: There are no jobs here, really. We are all standing in soup lines and begging for whatever we can get. Possums and armadillos are becoming quite scarce, but at least it’s meat. Don’t come here, there is nothing for you but misery on a scale you cannot imagine. You’ve been warned.

I suggest that at least 10 million people leave California immediately and head to Texas.

Texas is where it's at! Lots of jobs!

Get in on the bottom floor while you can. Go!

You have no idea how a long-suffering Senators fan is happy to see that... :-)

This is what happened in Colorado, the libs from california moved in and the first thing they did was try to remake Colorado in the image of california. Unfortunately they were successful, we are now a blue state and it sucks here. I have been considering moving to Texas so this news is very alarming. With Iowa and Utah gone I guess Alaska is the only place left on earth for a true Conservative.

“Even in the midst of a recession, economists, demographers and relocation experts believe the Lone Star State is on the cusp of becoming The New California. “

And God help them.

Moved there in 94 and they were already infesting the place. Texans need to fight back. (real Texans, that is)

A solution to this thorny liberal immigration issue comes from an old Texas jokes, best told if you imagine Chill Wills as the Texan and John Carradine as the New Yorker, goes like this:

A New Yorker came down to visit his long lost cousin in Dallas back in the 1850s. They meet at the cousin's one room cabin just back from the Trinity River. The Texan says his old cousin just arrived in time for supper. Yet when the New Yorker walks into the one room cabin, he founds clouds and cloud of flies, causing him to stumble back out the front door.

"How can we possible eat... Photobucket with all these flies?" he asked.

"Just go around back and wash up, cousin... Photobucket and I'll take care of them flies."

The New Yorker washes up out back and when he comes back around to the front and looks into the cabin, he does not see any flies.

"How in the world... Photobucket did you do that?"

"I bunced 'em, cousin... Photobucket I bunched 'em."

"What is... Photobucket bunched them?'"

"I took a dump in the far corner... Photobucket and that drew all the flies there."

And to this day we continue... the tradition--

And make all them new Liberals move into... the Peoples Republic of Austin, that's where we bunch the libs now.

BTW Yes, this joke is the source for that old ethnic Joke: How do you keep the flies off the bride at a [insert ethnic group or college here] Wedding?

You set a bucket of manure about twenty years away from her.
