The little girl flung from a minivan yesterday morning in west Omaha has died, according to the Omaha Police Department.
Josie Bluhm, 4, was in a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country driven by her mother when the crash occurred. Her mother's minivan was southbound on 180th Street about 7:25 a.m. Tuesday when a 2007 Ford F-150 pickup driven west on West Center Road by Eleazar Rangel-Ochoa, 27, ran a red light and slammed into it, authorities said.
Josie was the most severely hurt of those injured in the crash. She suffered brain hemorrhaging and was eventually declared brain dead. Life support was withdrawn, and she died of her injuries at 5:50 p.m. today, police said.
Two other children in the minivan, Cayden Bluhm, 5, and Reagan Bluhm, 1, were, like Josie, taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center after the crash. Cayden remained in serious condition, and Reagan was treated and released. The condition of their mother, Jayme Bluhm, 32, has been upgraded from serious to fair.
Rangel-Ochoa, whom police arrested after he was treated for his injuries, remained in jail today, accused of driving with a suspended license. He is not in the U.S. legally, according to police; they did not know his country of origin.
Authorities said Rangel-Ochoa's license had been suspended and revoked numerous times for offenses ranging from failure to complete driver improvement classes to driving under the influence. In 2003 his driver's license was revoked for 15 years following a conviction for third-offense DUI. He now will face a charge of misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide, Sgt. Doug Klein said in a police press release.
An incredible tragedy, made more so by the fact these children weren’t in car seats as well.
There are no words to say about this insanity that we see ourselves living in daily. Such a tragic tragic event that makes my heart fill with anger. My soul weeps for this country.
This is so tragic it is painful.
Why wasn’t she in a car seat? Will the mother be charged? I ask because in many states the driver will be charged if the child is not in a car seat.
almost the most useless and senseless way I can think of to die
at the hands of a serial drunk driving unrepentant illegal immigrant whose punishment will probably be a free ticket home

And, as aspecial reward, He'll be released without conviction and given citizenship and a welfare check from Obama.
I had not heard that about the kids not being in car seats. Where was that reported? Thank you.

THEN WHY DID HE HAVE A DRIVERS LICENSE????

He was here at least since 2003 and yet not one judge turned over this illegal alien to ICE. Disgusting. Every judge and every LE department has blood on their hands. Yes, the kids should have been in carseats but the accident didn't have to happen.
Please buckle your children and yourself in. It does not matter if you are being exceptionally careful, it is the drunk, illegal alien in the other vehicle that can cause the accident.
Well of course. It's all her mothers fault because she didn't have them in freakin' cheap plastic car seats.
How dare they even mention this poor illegal immigrant who blew a red light while taking a swig from his whiskey bottle.
I am sorry then for the duplicate; I DID search on this.
From the updated WOWT report--see previous posts
Obviously, he DIDN"T HAVE ONE!!!!
from article: “Rangel-Ochoa, whom police arrested after he was treated for his injuries, remained in jail today, accused of driving with a suspended license. He is not in the U.S. legally, according to police; they did not know his country of origin.
Authorities said Rangel-Ochoa’s license had been suspended and revoked numerous times for offenses ranging from failure to complete driver improvement classes to driving under the influence.

Nevadan: When I read paragraphs like the two above I nearly lose all hope for our country. In addition to the fact that:
1. He’s an illegal
2. He’s had several traffic violations as well as DUI offenses
Now, we’re told, he will face “a charge of misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide”. Excuse me?? A MISDEMEANOR?? I am utterly at a loss for words at how to even respond to all this insanity.
I’ve said over and over, those little plastic half seats seem much more dangerous to me than actual seats with belts.
I’m not sure if that was what she was in (or rather “on”) but I refused to put my daughters in them. They are pushed and pushed big time. Laws enacted about “booster seats until 8” Even Disney is in on it. To me, a shoulder harness in a regular seat, with the brace that protects their little spleens, seem much safer.
If the seat slides, the kid is not protected by the harness strapping them in. IMO
I Know, it's so DAMN MADDENING!! Makes me want to grab my --- and go ---- a ---- in that useless piece of ----'s ----.
My wife's vehicle was t-boned by a full-sized work truck doing about 55 mph.
Two major differences: My wife was driving a Ford Expedition and everyone was buckled in. No one had any injuries beyond a seat-belt bruise. It would have been very easy for things to be VERY different.
*PING* to AiT, looks like el Presidente’ Jorge Boosh’s legacy claimed another innocent life.
I agree mom. I look at the flimsy plastic “safety” seats I’m required to put my little girl in and it’s nuts.
This illegal S.O.B. murdered an innocent 4 year-old girl. Take him up in a helicopter about 5000ft. and push his sorry ass out right the door.
He did at one point. How did he get it? Every time I go to the Motor Vehicle Commission, I have to show 6 points of identification. Passport, Birth cert, SSN, bills, etc. etc.
This drunk killer somehow managed to just "get a license".
The seats work.
The plastic is just there to a) carry the kid, and b) route the straps.
It’s really the straps that hold a kid in.
If a kid goes through the straps, the were either installed faulty or the crash was so severe that they failed.
I agree. In fact I even have an idea for a harness that simply slips over the waist strap and then the regular seat belt shoulder harness slips through this harness and fastens as it's designed. So simple, cheap to make and perfect for little toddlers who are just too damn big for baby seats, half of which are useless anyways. I don't know why anyone hasn't come out with a simple add on harness for car seat belts to utilize them as full body protectors for tots. It's so easy to do.
In 2003 his driver’s license was revoked for 15 years following a conviction for third-offense DUI. He now will face a charge of misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide, Sgt. Doug Klein said in a police press release.
Well he didn't at this point, but was still driving, illegally, while being illegally in this country.
Why?
Because laws have no consequences for them in this country, and they know it, so they continue on their merry way, driving a nearly brand new truck, which he probably got a loan for no problem, and picked up a bottle of whiskey with his credit card to slake his thirst along the way.
(Psst! this isn't 2003) He didn't have a drivers licence. And your comment was "WHY DID HE HAVE A DRIVERS LICENCE??" not- "why was he ever given a drivers licence? .
Yesterday's video stated that the child was in a booster restraint.
“Did” is past tense. He did have a driver’s license. He doesn’t have one now.
I know it’s not 2003.
I want to know how this jerk EVER got a license, in any year, in any state, since he is not here legally.
Nobody carries a 3 year old kid in a baby seat. Especially in fat America where 32% of them are tipping the scales at 80lbs. But because of stupid "laws" you have to stuff them into stupid plastic baby seats. After a certain age, it's booster seats. each state has a different version of these laws. And those seats only work if installed properly. If you are carrying your kid in and out of the car in that seat, it isn't installed properly, therefore it's useless. To install properly, it has to be anchored to where the main seat belt is bolted. Takes about a half hour to install a child carrier properly. It isn't removable after that.
Another drunk illegal killing Americans? I’m shocked, I tell you, shocked!
Actually, blame OK for this one. As DUI felonies all they had to do is pickup the phone and call ICE. They would have picked the guy up and deported him. So, in reality, political correctness and DIVERSITY killed this child.
WTF are you on?
The accident is past tense as well, so it's ALL IN THE PAST.
He DIDN'T have one at the time of the accident, and he DOESN'T have one now.
“WTF are you on? “
LMAO
That would be perfect!
I think you would make big bucks.
That's not what your post implied however. You simply asked "(shouted) "why did he have a licence" which leads the reader to asume you thought he had a licence, and/or didn't read the entire article.
You should have said, "How did he ever get a license in the first place?"
>>The seats work.
The plastic is just there to a) carry the kid, and b) route the straps.<<
Are you talking about the “Half Seats”? Because that’s what I’m talking about.
My Great-Nephew who is VERY active, had one of those seats slip right out from under him in my car. In a crash, the shoulder harness would tighten at the height of the seat. If the seat then slipped with the force of the accident, he slips out the bottom of the harness.
I’m not sure they work and I feel that it’s just another mandatory cash cow that some do gooder thought would be a good idea.
Unfortunately this town is chock full’o retards - in spite of this we just elected a pro-illegal immigrant mayor with zero executive experience.
Well, you gotta wonder with a statement like that. ;o) Maybe she meant "He don't have a drivers licence" reflecting her local flavor of english.
I use them, of course. But how is a seatbelt around a flimsy plastic seat better than a seatbelt around a child? I mean, I see the need for infants and for toddlers. But for 6, 7, and 8-year-olds I don’t quite see it. Especially if it’s one of those ridiculous backless half-seats, which I won’t use.
I’m on the truth. What are you on?
He did have a license. The whole point of that statement in the first place was to point out the fact (you do know what that is, right) that he was issued a license to drive in a country he’s not legally entitled to be in. The fact (inconvenient things at times) that his license (which did exist) was revoked, does not revoke the fact (there it is again) that he had (past tense) a license.
Take it easy.
Your post was very clear. Don’t let the troll bother you.
That was my understanding as well, BB.
I think somebody is just out trolling for a fight.
