Cork it, ladies

Elizabeth Edwards always seemed like the yin - a genuine human being - to her smarmy husband's too-slick yang. No more. With the release of her memoir "Resilience" and self-flagellation book tour about her life with her cheating hubby, Mrs. E now seems about as believable as her husband. That is: Add the prefix "un."

No one should expect the wife of a man with Edwards' hobbies to be completely forthcoming - which is why she never should have written the book. Unless she had decided to show him the door - or if she had come out and said that she loves the $400 haircut and that's that - the memoir was bound to disappoint.

Lacking the stomach to read the tell-little tell-all, I get my quotes from Elizabeth Edwards' appearance on "Oprah" last week. Mrs. E. presented a hard-to-swallow story about her husband's confession about his relations with a single woman that seems carefully calibrated to protect what is left of the couple's political credibility.

How could the fiercely partisan Elizabeth have told Democrats to support her husband for president when she knew that, if he won, news of the affair likely would have killed her party's chances for victory in 2008?

Timing is everything in such matters. So the Edwards' story is that he cheated when her cancer was in remission. (Sadly, it has returned with a vengeance.) And: She did not know about the affair when Edwards announced his White House bid in December 2006. He told her two days after the announcement. By then the deed was done, although she did tell him she wanted to end the campaign.

Elizabeth Edwards has always been a fraud and her husband’s willing accomplice and attack dog. She is no more a victim of her husband than Hillary Clinton.

Wow, avowed Dems find any way they can to bash the Palin’s.

I didn’t know that Edwards cheating on his cancer stricken wife was the equivalent of an out of wedlock birth.

I wonder if she would still allow him to live under the roof of the family home if she did not have terminal cancer?

I feel funny saying anything because she has cancer. But you do wonder why she decided to write this book and speak out now.

Just like Hillary, the dreams of being First Lady can make Democrat women overlook most anything and everything.

I don’t know why these like Elizabeth Edwards and Bristol Palin people want to keep dragging their dirty linen out of the closet. If they would just shut up about it all, people would forget about it- for the most part.
What IS it with these people??

John and Elizabeth have used her cancer for political gain, going as far as to even publicly extending how long she had left to live after their original announcement flopped and generated criticism over John spending his wife’s short time left campaigning.

So who really knows what the truth about her medical condition really is with these two.
They chose to exploit it as a campaign gimmick and milk it for all they could.

I ALWAYS thought Elizabeth Edwards was just as smarmy and deceptive as her husband. Now, a few more people are seeing her as she really is.

I've been thinking about that myself. Besides the obvious revenge motive, how about money?

If the Silky Pony is Rielle's baby daddy (and he almost certainly is), then Rielle's daughter has a claim to Silky Pony's estate, putting her in direct competition with Elizabeth's kids. IANAL, but it seems that said daughter would not have a claim to any revenue from EE's book. For EE to try to protect her offsprings' interests is natural, to say the least.

I don’t know why you have to equate Elizabeth Edwards with Bristol Palin. Bristol Palin is a teenager that made a mistake. Elizabeth Edwards is a scheming political wife that happens to be a nasty partisan liberal.

I can’t help it...I feel sorry for EE. I don’t know why she wrote the book....but it HAD to feel like a stake in her heart when ‘pretty boy’ told her about the affair.

He should have dropped out of politics when he started the affair. What a dumbass!

It’s the baby and abortion, stupid... and it’s Bush’s fault (sarc off)

No, really, every liberal appologia is spun into Bush’s fault in the background mindset of the writer.

Demorats, Republicans- whatever. I’m sick of hearing about their dirty laundry.
Bristol Palin made a ‘mistake’, yes, and has compounded it by refusing to let it rest.

She wants you to "feel funny". Remember how poisonously she attacked Ann Coulter for questioning her husband during the campaign? Edwards used her for all his dirty work because she was sick.

The reason she's now giving for writing the book is that she wrote it for her children. So they wouldn't think their parents were "flawless". Complete garbage. This is a woman who actively campaigned for a man she knew was a cheat and a liar yet she stood right next to him and talked about what a wonderful father and husband he was.

Of course, here are two people who were building a 29,000 square foot house while traveling the country complaining about "two Americas".

Like you, I don’t see the comparison either. Bristol Palin didn’t hit the campaign trail for her mother announcing that her mother was qualified for office in part because she raised a daughter who practiced abstinence. If Bristol had become the spokesperson for abstinence while hiding her own pregnancy, then you might have a comparison. Of course, there is also the teensy detail that the teen aged daughter of a VP candidate is somewhat different from a sitting Senator who is running for President....

Yea, I don’t like seeing all the dirty laundry from all these people either, but Bristol Palinat least seems to be pleasant. Some “conservatives” hatred of Sarah Palin might influence people.
