These people are a bunch of losers.

Not really. They just won the White House. We are the losers.

Exclusive: Bill Ayers Talks About Election Night in Grant Park
[Obama win brings commie Ayers to tears!]

From NBC Chicago, Jan 21, 2009:

Bill Ayers was "overflowing with happiness, relief, love" when he and his wife went to Grant Park with tens of thousands of Chicagoans to celebrate the election of President Barack Obama.

Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, spoke exclusively with NBC Chicago's Dick Johnson about why they joined the Election Night celebration in the park, where 40 years before they helped stage the Days of Rage riots.

The couple said they got last-minute tickets from a friend to be in Grant Park that night.

"I couldn't stop crying a couple of times. I found the exact spot where I was beaten 40 years ago," Ayers said. "But I've never been in a crowd that large that wasn't edged with either anger or drunkenness or gluttony, and it was really an extraordinary feeling."

Article: Obama's Foul Weather Friends
By Scott Swett and Roger Canfield

"As a gesture of solidarity, the Vietnamese who [Bernardine] Dohrn met in Budapest presented her with a ring made from an American aircraft shot down over North Vietnam. Bill Ayers would receive a similar ring while meeting with Vietnamese communists in Toronto. He later recalled being so moved by the gesture that he 'left the room to cry.' "

"The Communist Party USA views the 2008 elections as a tremendous opportunity to defeat the policies of the right-wing Republicans and to move our country in a new progressive direction.

The record turnout in the Democratic Presidential primary races shows that millions of voters, including millions of new voters, are using this election to bring about real change. We wholeheartedly agree with them."

A Landslide Mandate For Change

Congratulations on an extraordinary history making election!

We can think back with pride to decades of hard work toward our strategic goal of a big enough, broad enough and united enough labor and all-people’s movement that could overcome the ultra-right blockage to all progress. That all people’s movement has come to life, it is dynamic and it has the potential to keep growing.

The election of Barack Obama and a strengthened Congress creates new conditions in our country. There is now the possibility to shift gears and move forward. This new day requires us to further develop our tactics in order to continue to deepen and broaden labor and people’s unity.

There are thousands of experiences that we all have had in these momentous days, some large, some small, all of which express the enormity of change in thinking and readiness for involvement that is underway and that steels us for the battles ahead.

The tears of joy we all shared as crowds gathered to watch the election results here and throughout the world dramatize the new moment we are in.

Saul Alinsky on "Change"...
From Rules for Radicals, Alinsky outlines his strategy in organizing, writing:

"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution."

Is it really a front operated by the RCR? Or is a just a random lefty-socialist group that the RCR is eager to infiltrate and co-opt? There are an awful lot of people who have some sort of activity in or affiliation with groups that might be regarded as “useful” by the RCR, but who don’t support the extreme aims of the RCR or even know that the RCR regards the group as useful or that RCR may be manipulating/infiltrating the group. Not that I’m thrilled about Karpinski even allowing her name to be used in support of Not In Our Name, but it’s way different than actually endorsing RCR, unless the group is overtly controlled by RCR. For random citizens, I wouldn’t even think of making the jump from endorsing NION to a presumption of endorsing RCR, but Karpinski is certainly in a position to recognize the importance of checking out such connections/control before endorsing a group.

I just think we should be careful about getting into McCarthyish excesses, by labelling people as “communist sympathizers” without any evidence that they actually regard themselves as such. There actually are people who are anti-war and/or pro moderate forms of socialism, who don’t support anything along the lines of the RCR philosophy. We just drive away people who have the potential be gradually brought over to our side of the fence, if we’re quick to scream “communist” when they affilate with lefty-peacenik groups that they don’t realize are being manipulated or even controlled by an overtly communist organization.

Both World Can't Wait and Not In Our Name were founded by leaders of the Revolutionary Communist Party. Try actually reading through what I posted above and checking out the links. Also try doing some research of your own. It's not that hard.

BTW: it's not "RCR", it's 'RCP' (Revolutionary Communist Party).

Stick it with the "McCarthyish excesses". That's the kind of talk we expect from the commie left. The guy was right far more often than he was wrong.

International ANSWER, Not in Our Name, World Can't Wait, etc. were all formed and sponsored by the World Workers' Party -- the Stalinist splinter off of the American Communist Party.

The WWP website used to include links to all these creatures, claiming full responsibility for them. All of them shared the same street address (and, sometimes, phone number) in lower Manhattan -- though I believe they've since scrubbed the connection. The recent Chairman of the WWP was Ramsey Clark (yes, THAT Ramsey Clark).

Their funding is largely provided by rich lefties, a few "foundations for peace" and, among others, by Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

Fascinatingly, International ANSWER -- not LULAC and MALDEF -- was the primary organizer of the illegal alien demonstrations a couple of years ago.

If it's associated with the WWP, yes, it IS a Communist-front organization.

Ahh! I didn't catch that the first time around. World Can't Wait has 'only' been around since 2005. And Not In Our Name, a good deal longer. Anyone, other than a naive school kid or a total friggin idiot adult, should know who these groups are by now. I'm curious, were you once a member of either?

Behind the Placards
The odd and troubling origins of today’s anti-war movement
David Corn, November 07, 2002

"Officially, the organizer of the Washington demonstration was International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism). But ANSWER is run by WWP [Workers World Party] activists, to such an extent that it seems fair to dub it a WWP front. Several key ANSWER officials -- including spokesperson Brian Becker -- are WWP members. Many local offices for ANSWER’s protest were housed in WWP offices. Earlier this year, when ANSWER conducted a press briefing, at least five of the 13 speakers were WWP activists. They were each identified, though, in other ways, including as members of the International Action Center.

The IAC, another WWP offshoot, was a key partner with ANSWER in promoting the protest. It was founded by Ramsey Clark, attorney general for President Lyndon Johnson in the 1960s."

PROFILE: PARTY FOR SOCIALISM AND LIBERATION (PSL)

* Marxist-Leninist antiwar group that calls for “revolution” in the United States
* Operates in tandem with International ANSWER
* Expressly supports anti-Israel and anti-American terrorism

The Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) was founded in 2004, following an organizational fissure within the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party (WWP) that resulted in three WWP member branches -- based respectively in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C -- breaking away to form their own group. Openly allied with the International ANSWER Coalition (which is intimately tied to Ramsey Clark's International Action Center), PSL has also established branches in New York City (in Harlem), Baltimore, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and West Chester, Pennsylvania.

A proponent of "revolutionary Marxism," PSL’s general raison d’etre is opposition to capitalism, which it defines as "the system in which all wealth and power is held by a tiny group of billionaires and their state," and the promotion of "socialism." The organization regards "U.S. capitalism" as the underlying cause of the war in Iraq (and all other wars) and regards "revolution" as the only viable alternative.

(snip)

Though nominally an independent group, PSL mostly acts in concert with International ANSWER. A list of campaigns and events on PSL’s website provides a summary of demonstrations and protests organized by ANSWER. PSL is staffed largely by ANSWER activists, among whom is PSL’s “leader,” Brian Becker. Other PSL members include ANSWER activist Gloria La Riva, a former gubernatorial candidate in California and a longtime apologist for communist Cuba, as well as several ANSWER coordinators and organizers, among them Saul Kanowitz, Muna Coobtee, and Caneisha Mills.

PSL is a strong supporter of Fidel Castro's Cuban government and the socialist "Bolivarian Revolution" led by Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. It also holds a favorable view of Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution in 1960s China.

Nope, never a member of anything of that sort, though back in my college days I was tangentially involved in some groups that were occasionally targets of infiltration/co-optation by communist front groups, so I’ve seen how they operate, and am well aware that most of the people who are active in the groups they infiltrate don’t regard themselves as communists or support the objectives of overtly communist groups.

The communist groups, sometimes operating under their real name, and sometimes through front groups, do a lot of scouting of various types of groups that attract idealistic young adults and/or aging hippie types. They’re looking to recruit a few people who have more radical leanings, but their bigger mission seems to be to blunt opposition to specific political concepts and initiatives, by presenting them as consistent with the prevailing beliefs and objectives of other types of groups (peace groups, women’s rights groups, gay groups, environmentalist groups, pro-union groups, etc).

Sometimes they’re very shrewd operatives. Other times, not so much. I recall one occasion where a group of overzealous operatives, thinking they were gaining the respect of the group whose meeting they’d shown up to and been pitching comments into, got a little overconfident and one of them piped up to sing the praises of Castro’s Cuba. This didn’t go over well with the rest of the assembled group who, while mostly left-leaning, weren’t complete idiots. Despite the operatives continuing to raise their hands over and over to speak, none of them were recognized by the “facilitator” again, and they were drowned out by a chorus of “Oh, shut up!” when they tried to speak anyway.

From David Horowitz’s FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org
PROFILE: C. CLARK KISSINGER

* Maoist activist
* National secretary of Students for a Democratic Society
* Originator of Not In Our Name and Refuse and Resist
* Member of the Revolutionary Communist Party
* “The problem in this country [is] the oppressive system of capitalism that exploits people all over the world, that destroys our planet, that oppresses minority people, that sends people to the death chambers in droves.”

Charles Clark Kissinger is a prominent member of the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP). He was instrumental in the formation of the groups Refuse & Resist, Not in Our Name, and World Can’t Wait.

Born in 1940, Kissinger began his public activism in the early 1960s when he served as the national secretary of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), the leading radical organization of its day. He also worked closely with Fred Hampton and the Black Panther Party.

Kissinger, who supported Mao Zedong’s Communist regime in China, continues to enjoy strong support from the Maoist Internationalist Movement (MIM), which, in its own words, “upholds the revolutionary communist ideology of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism” and views the Chinese Cultural Revolution as “the farthest advance of communism in human history.” MIM seeks to achieve its ends “by building public opinion to seize power through armed struggle” and full-fledged “revolution [in] North America.”

A devoted backer of Iran’s Islamic revolution, Kissinger in 1979 traveled to Iran when Ayatollah Khomeni seized power.

In October 1983, Kissinger and RCP tried to sabotage American efforts to deploy Pershing and cruise missiles in Germany. Kissinger personally led a “World Without Imperialism Contingent” (WWIC) on an eight-week tour of Germany to lay the framework for thwarting the missile deployments. Accompanied by members of Peru’s Marxist guerrilla army, the Shining Path, Kissinger and his RCP comrades penetrated the Mutlangen U.S. military base in West Germany, where Pershing II intermediate-range missiles were stored.

The following month, Kissinger’s fellow RCP / WWIC members were involved, along with Red Cells and other German anarchist-terrorists, in an assault against Vice President George H.W. Bush’s caravan during a visit to Krefeld, Germany.

In January 1984, the RCP newspaper Revolutionary Worker, for which Kissinger has written frequently, called for the assassination of President Ronald Reagan.
