Charges Seen as Unlikely for Lawyers Over Interrogations (Obama may seek to disbar Bush Lawyers)

WASHINGTON — An internal Justice Department inquiry into the conduct of Bush administration lawyers who wrote secret memorandums authorizing brutal interrogations has concluded that the authors committed serious lapses of judgment but should not be criminally prosecuted, according to government officials briefed on a draft of the findings.

The report by the Office of Professional Responsibility, an internal ethics unit within the Justice Department, is also likely to ask that state bar associations consider possible disciplinary action, including reprimands or even disbarment, for some of the lawyers involved in writing the legal opinions, the officials said.

He’ll get them somehow. Bambi and the folks behind TOTUS hate Bush but they haven’t figured how to get him quite yet; they’re warming up with the attorneys, and they’ll make sure to get them way or another. And then it’s on to Bush and Cheney, once Bambi and friends have found out what works.

Is Obama a member of the Illinois (or other state) bar?

If so, will he be referred for failure to submit an authenticated birth certificate and/or permitting the publication of a fake document “certificate of live birth”?

Note this pattern:

Threatens XYZ then backs down. Threatens bond holders. etc etc.

Leak an undisclosed “threat” and then say it is not true. It is constant threats. Tell the police to watch military veterans for extremism.

Microsoft and Intel would do this type of stuff with vaporware or hardware to intimidate competitors.

I have read, but I don't know if it's true, that Obama let his law license lapse several years ago (2002 or 2003).

>>Obama declares war on Bush and peace on the terrorists.

the fuhrer declares war on himself and every President from here until the end of time.

If he goes after bush folk, then the Palin/Jindal administration will go after his and the cycle will never end.

Rubbish. The Office of Professional Responsibility only has authority over Justice Department attorneys. I don’t believe these attorneys did anything wrong, and would certainly be willing to help them defend themselves.

As I said on a previous thread...

I think the latest I heard is that they are going to try to disbar them instead of prosecute...

How cute...there is no law broken so they go after the politically expedient thing to do...RUIN their lives...

I hate this group of a**hats...

Obama sets up "Purge" mentality to show what he will do with anyone who doesn't knuckle under to him.

This was not torture. It was interrogation, and any International Court would conclude the same.

Obama can't do a damn thing about it, and certainly has no grounds to invoke disbarment of lawyers who gave opinions which were and still are accurate.

The lawyers are guilty of one thing, offending the Oba-Utopia morality system.

And I say we offend the hell out of Obama, lay it on real thick.

More Obama histrionics! Lets see how long it takes for him to wind himself up as tight as a church clock, like Hitler and Mussolinin used to do.

Pucker factor increasing exponentially!

He's definitely gonna blow.

I absolutely agree with you're first sentence, and completely disagree with the last half of your second sentence.

There so much unfounded anger at Bush and his administration, if any of these guys would get hauled in front of an international court, of any kind, they would surely get convicted.

This is why I am absolutely against the so-called International Criminal Court. It's a kangaroo court in waiting for it's first US victim.

Should events take their emotional and logical course, I think much of the cycle you speak of will die with obama's term.

Love or hate GW Bush, he and others with him kept us safe. Rumor has it, the military respects him, most like the man and I've not heard or read any reports otherwise. obama's approach will not sit well with a vast spectrum of our country.

And then there's obama cozying up with the wrong people and pissing off our allies and the rest of us and it's only been 100 or so days.

Given the way he operates and the potential for other issues to catch up to the shadow man, his term might be a bit shorter than 4 years. He's bad news for the Republic and for the Constitution and I see obama being impeached.

I would like to see a case brought i that kangaroo court which will loook at historical torture, photographs of maiming, electrocution, etc, practised by the very nations that now harbor terrorists.

Iinterrogation is not torture. There is only so far one can strtch facts. And there is no way that Innterrogation coyld be found as a fact to be torture. That is if facts were adduced.

The whole thing is created by Obama and the Dems. All of it. Becuase it was so successful agianst their "hardened" Muslim bretheren. They do not want it used again because it WAS so effective. But we will use it again, and again, until we defeat the Islamofascists for good. This includes Obama too. We will defeat Obama.

And they are pounding America with it. I think its laughable.

Obama and his progues need large doses of ridicule.

I agree—Bambi has to get the last word/act. It must’ve been embarassing for he and his team to drop the charges to indict, but he’ll punish them somehow.

This is simply one Justice Department passing judgment on another.
Don't allow the mediots to portray Dumbo's Justice Dept. as somehow more authoritative than W's.
