Cinco de Mayo, a victory against the French? That’s a Holiday? Beating the French?

Yeah, it was her idiotic husband and his “issues” that gave Obama his break - with a little help from Obama’s penchant for legal maneuvering during elections.

I think he was making a joke and did it intentionally since today is the fourth. I find it hard to believe that even he would have made that mistake.

I heard a clip of this today. It sure sounded to me as though the arrogant BO was making fun of hispanics and their great victory over some French guys.

Obama should have contacted president Bush for Spanish lessons instead of being one of those people who can't speak a European language who is an embarrassment to the US.

“Cinco de Mayo, a victory against the French? Thats a Holiday? Beating the French?”
And actually, after being held up by the Mexicans at Puebla for a bit, the French went around the town and marched into Mexico City with the mayor giving them the key to the city. Maximillian then ruled Mexico until good old Uncle Sugar made the French give it up because we didn’t want a European power as a neighbor.
Cinco de Mayo is a vastly overblown holiday invented in the USA to promote self esteem among Mexican students in our schools. It was not celebrated in Mexico until CA and TX began making it an event as big as Dies y Sies de Septiembre, Mexico’s Independence Day on Sept. 16.

He can say whatever he wants. The media is not going to point out, criticize, correct or otherwise notice any linguistic mistakes the man makes. Of course, if a conservative were to misspeak...well, that’s a different matter. It is a waste of time to post gaffes by Obama. No one cares except for the few conservative, values-minded people left in the country.

Cinco de Mayo is just an excuse to drink beer.
But seriously -- the thing that strikes me more and more about Obama is that he is not grounded in American history and culture. In fact, he's not even reasonably conversant with it. He's ignorant of classics, literature, history, and just about anything that those Dead White European Males came up with.
Socialist grandparents, an out and out commie for a mother, raised in Indonesia and then in Hawaii . . . . and along the way he failed to learn much of anything about Western culture. Not surprising, since he went to college in an era when the professors spent most of their time deconstructing Western civilization. The professors, of course, assumed that their pupils had a basic grounding in the material they were deconstructing.
Obama does not. It is horrifying that the electorate could put such an uneducated and ignorant person into office to run a system he doesn't understand -- and doesn't WANT to understand. Probably because, thanks to the government school system, most of them don't get it either.

When Bush spoke halting but accurate Spanish they made fun of him. If Bush was dumb where does that leave Obie?Don't mean squat. The greasers, beaners, and taco-benders are all assuming the position for Mr. Macho Man even as we speak. Hispanic men with integrity are obviously excluded from the above.
To: Free ThinkerNY
The more remarkable comment comes a sentence after his inept attempt at humor, when he makes reference to the Obama White House. Gee, remember back in the old days when it belonged to the American people?

I think it was scripted, but misread. He may have intended to say “quatro de Mayo”, but flubbed it. His notes seemed to help him on a “doing things in advance at the White House” theme.
The guy seems helpless without a teleprompter.

Obviously, it was a joke, but it came out flat. He should've said, 'welcome to Cuatro de Mayo' since today is the the 4th and cuatro means fourth. Cinco is tomorrow, May 5th.
But he can't even deliver a good joke.

I bet he was trying to place a bet of 600 quatloons, and it came out all wrong!
The empty suit has passed President Bush on Bushisms, hasn’t he, in these first 100 daze? Suave, debonair, intellectual, charismatic—I always thought they meant HolyO, but in reality they were describing TOTUS! LOL. ;-)
