If ever you needed further proof of the "person of color" America really needs in charge right now, I urge you to watch this fabulous YouTube footage of the magnificent Condoleezza Rice being ambushed by left-liberal students at Stanford University with a series of "difficult" questions about torture, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay and US foreign policy under George W Bush. (Hat tip: Andrew Hamilton.)
Her coolness under fire is magnificent, but more impressive still is her refusal to duck the issues. "Sorry we have to leave", an official can be heard saying off camera, but Condi isn't going to take the easy way out: she wants to stand up for her principles and put the pantywaists in their place.
"Let me tell you something: unless you were there in a position of responsibility after September 11 you cannot possibly imagine the dilemmas that we faced in trying to protect Americans," she says.
"Maybe before you make allegations about Guantanamo, you should READ," says Condi, with exquisitely measured .
Condi, you are a star and if America won't have you as our next president, please will you come over and be our next Queen instead?

While undoubtedly better than Obama, he track record as Secretary of State was underwhelming. She is rather a liberal on many domestic issues, and refused opportunities to hammer Obama before and after the election.

People here are conveniently forgetting just how unpopular George Bush was last year. Condi was popular, indeed, McCain did consider her as his running mate and went in to interview her. But she told him no, that the Bush legacy would drag him down. Condi was the only popular member of the Bush team.
Remember, Bush was at 28 percent because he was leeching Republicans on spending, borders, and the war. He had lost independents and the D's years before the campaign, after Katrina.
You do understand that she would have destroyed Joe Biden in a debate. It would have been much worse that what she did to that nice young man she had the conversation with in Roble Hall.
As this Administration continues to look feckless, it will continue down the path of McCarthyism. It almost can't help itself: it fears that if the U.S. is attacked, it must of needs be bring into disrepute those methods that might have forestalled such an attack prior to such an attack so that Obama might be held blameless. To that end, Holder is probably going to prosecute people or hold Show Trials. Obama will keep his hands clean, claiming he can't control his Attorney General without violating the law.
People like Rice will have to defend themselves, and do so publicly. It's when that happens that the Administration will run into a brick wall and a backlash from the public.

I admire Ms. Rice for many reasons, but I think of her as the female Colin Powell. I do not believe she is a true conservative.

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gushed yesterday that Sen. Barack Obama is an “extraordinary person” and said it won’t be long before the nation gets its first black president.
Sounding like she had come down with a severe case of Obama-mania, Rice affectionately referred to the Democratic senator - a Foreign Relations Committee member - as a member of “my committee,” since she frequently testifies there.
“I think he’s very appealing and a great person,” she enthused. “He’s on my committee. And we’ve always had good exchanges. I think he’s an extraordinary person.”
Rice - who has repeatedly denied having an interest in running for president herself - said barriers to blacks have been disappearing one by one, and that the door to the White House may soon swing open.
“I don’t need another job in government with anybody,” she said. “Look, I’m a Republican, all right? Sen. McCain is a fine patriot, and … he would be a great president. But there’s something to be said for fresh blood. And I know that there are a lot of very good people who could be his vice president.”
During the interview in a regal room at the State Department appointed with chandeliers, rich carpets and cases of porcelain, Rice was asked: “Would you feel safe with a President Obama?”
“Oh, the United States will be fine,” she responded. “I think that we are having an important debate about how we keep the country safe. I think we are having an important debate about our responsibilities, our obligations, our interests in the Middle East in the wake of the now increasing evidence of success in Iraq. Those are important judgments for the American people to make.”

I believe she has some conservative tendencies, but they don’t run deep. And for her, Black trumps Conservative. Colin Powell in a dress.

Powell's conduct and comments were reprehensible. When it comes down to it, Powell and probably Rice put color above country. I can only hope they both live to regret it as such.

I think many ultra-conservatives would have resisted her though on soft abortion views, and Israel.
