Candia Pigs are getting a bad rap.
So bad, that Charmingfare Farm has opted to delay the arrival of a sow and her piglets normally on display in late spring.
It is not that the pigs are sick or anything, it is just public perception, John Pyteraf, owner of Charmingfare Farm said. I think the public sometimes just needs time to get educated.
Although the new strain of flu, type H1N1 has been called swine flu, no pigs have yet come down with the virus, according to state veterinarian Steve Crawford. And according to the
John Pyteraf, owner of Charmingfare Farm, thinks this would be a bad time for these swine to be on display.
Gitchs Funny Farm in Hill has opted to keep out any nonessential persons from their farm to help protect their local product.

So fueling the public IGNORANCE by NOT displaying the pigs does what, exactly, to educate the public????
People are IDIOTS.
They need to have the pigs on display AS USUAL and include a sign, literature, and a person standing there educating the public that this particular strain of flu is not coming from the pigs. Otherwise, people will walk away saying “Pigs MUST be a danger OR ELSE THEY WOULD HAVE HAD THEM ON DISPLAY!!”
How long will it be before our own country bows to public perception (which they have CREATED), and WRONGLY begins slaughtering pigs here, like they have done in Egypt??
