The title reminds me of the shady announcement GHW Bush made announcing Desert Storm - "The New World Order has now Begun" - only this title refering to Arlen Specter is much more sanguine.

Yes there is and we can get it ALL out this year. There are plenty of enema kits to go around. I would love to send some checks to a few states looking to cleanse themselves of their RINOs. The bacteria affects us all regardless of the state from which they originate.

It was so bizarre because he said it as though the whole country knew what the hell he was talking about. There were other times he spoke about it besides that speech. Looked up that quote on Google. There were two hits. One was from a blog entry in 2000, commenting on the election result. The other hit was this thread.

I never heard anyone else use that quote of GHW Bush in my lifetime. The only time I ever heard Bush use the term “New World Order” was the instance to which I referred. The references from the link I provided last night were completely new to me. I had never seen or heard those speeches until I went to Youtube hoping to find the Desert Storm speech. It wasn’t there but I’m not surprised because it wasn’t like the speech that I did find where he was going on and on about the “new world order”. In the Desert Storm speech, all he said was “the New World Order has now begun”. It was a short throw away sentence amid a long speech about Desert Storm.
The main problem: There is no way to put this diplomatically. Whether or not he uttered the sentence is completely tangential to the point of this thread. It has absolutely – nothing - to do with the Arlen Specter column and GOP enema petition. I simply made a joke about how the title reminded me of a famous quote about the NWO. I made a mistake in engaging you regarding a ridiculous remark I should have ignored from the beginning. My flaw was to try to defend myself against a remark by the one person out of 900+ readers who had to take the anal retentive, inconsequential position. Say what you must say; .I am done with you.
The thing is that when an article starts out with something that is clearly wrong, it reflects poorly on the writer and also, on the ideas of the writer.
Starting out with a wrong quote compromises the quality of the whole piece.

The paper is a cogent research paper all about the meaning of “Bush’s New World Order”. In it he –references- the speech to which I am referring called ‘George Bush “Operation Desert Storm Launched” Address to the Nation from the White House – 16 January 1991”
On page 10 of his research paper on “The New World Order” he cites the speech as you can see:

So far this is as close as I could get. This is actually bizarre because this was a rather significant speech of recent history. I went to the George HW Bush library to search for a TRANSCRIPT for that speech. It took me to the National Archives. I was pleasantly surprised to find a link to the transcript to that very speech – pleasantly surprised UNTIL I clicked on the link at the National Archives and it gave me a message telling me that the transcript to that speech is “no longer available”!
In this day and age, with all of the technology we have to our avail, one cannot procure a written transcript to a Presidential speech by a President who has just addressed the nation from the Whitehouse to inform us of a major operation like Desert Storm???
I suppose that the citing of a speech by a Major in our military - in a paper exclusively dedicated to Bush’s “NWO” would not be acceptable to you. It begs the question –why- would this Major cite this speech in a paper about the President’s “NWO” – if he never mentioned the words in that speech???? I’m sure you have an answer.

If you do find it, I’d love to see it. So far you get an A for effort, but have failed to find a legitimate citation to support your assertion.
Is it possible you are conflating two events - the one occasion where Bush did say the words ‘New World Order,’ and some other event where he didn’t say those words?
Yep. Still no credible source for the fantasy quote announcing that the New World Order has begun.
