Having spent this morning catching up on my weekend reading, I came across this Page 4 article from Friday's New York Times. Here's the lead paragraph: "BAGHDAD — At least 80 people died and 120 others were injured Thursday in three bombings, one by a female suicide bomber in Baghdad who, Iraqi officials said, held a young child’s hand as she set off her explosives among a group of women and children receiving emergency food aid."
Even putting aside our baseline revulsion at terrorism, there are three especially hideous things that jumo out from this:
1) A mother deliberately taking her (presumed) child with her as she immolates herself. For all the hundreds of suicide bombings that Iraq has already witnessed, this has got to be a first.

I can't say what I really want to say about these people that drag small children with them to commit these horrid acts.

There was an article awhile back about what motivated a woman to become a suicide bomber.
The case in question dealt with a “Mother” figure who would befriend a young girl. The ‘Mother’ would find out where she lived, then send a gang of men to rape her and video tape it. She then was forced to watch the video tape, over and over. Then the “Mother” figure would tell her the only way to regain her “honor” was to become a Martyr. Then, this kindly “Mother” figure would offer to “help prevent” that video from being given to the young womans parents.
In other cases, a mother does this to spare the life of her other children. Find a mother with 4 kids, cut the throat of one of them to show her you are serious. Tell her that you will spare 2 of the kids if she takes the youngest with he on a bombing mission.
There is no limit, no evil that these people will not gladly stoop to.
If it can’t make Zero look good, or make GOPers look bad, it just ain’t news.
What has happened is Obama has raised false hope in the hearts of the Islamofascists. They've observed that he fears violence, yet he dithers in making decisions to put an end to it.
The plan is for him to surrender as soon as possible.
I sure haven’t been hearing much about all of the recent bombings in Baghdad, now that the Pantywaist in Chief is king of the sandbox

And yeah, islam is a vile religion that justifies these action with a reward in heaven...
In the US, we have had people killing strangers en masse and people killing their entire families. Here is a woman combining the two. I suppose she wanted to take the child to paradise with her.
Anyone else guessing the child was a girl and both she and her mother had been raped? Or that the child was disabled or deformed? Otherwise surely the extended family, or the tribe, would be honored to take the child in and raise the next generation of shaheed.

One pair of these terrorists had their liquid explosive concealed in a false bottom of their baby's bottle they were to take on the flight. They would have killed their own baby, had their plot not been stopped.

I thought there were articles early on in the WOT that had young children approaching our soldiers that were booby trapped that way. (why do they call it booby trapped?)

One or two children would collect a group of soldiers around them, (soldiers would give the children chocolate bars) and the children were strapped with explosives and would detonate it when enough soldiers were gathered.

What is the purpose of killing women and children receiving food aid???? I thought they were supposed to kill the infidel, or the invaders. WHY women & children in a food line??
