Nancy 'Scooter' Pelosi

Security Breaches: Scooter Libby went to prison for the "outing" of a desk-jockey CIA agent. He forgot conversations. Pelosi forgets briefings. And the outing of our entire intelligence apparatus by Democrats is OK.

Remember the thrilling days of yesteryear and the alleged outing of the already known CIA officer Valerie Plame? We were told then that the Vanity Fair cover girl's 15 minutes of fame jeopardized our national security even if everybody already knew who she was.

"Scooter" Libby went to prison because his memory of events and who said what to whom regarding Plame differed from the recollections of others, particularly news reporters. Alleged contradictory statements were portrayed as a deliberate and malicious obstruction of justice. So what about Pelosi?

When Libby's sentence was justifiably commuted by President Bush, Pelosi was outraged.

"The President's commutation of Scooter Libby's prison sentence does not serve justice, condones criminal conduct and is a betrayal of trust of the American people," she said.

Revealing CIA interrogation techniques and exposing government officials who kept us alive since 9/11 to prosecution is a betrayal of trust that does not serve justice. These agents and officials acted in good faith. They also kept us alive and safe.

Here we have the release of memos describing in detail how we have interrogated terrorists in the past, an action that gives aid and comfort to the enemy, revealing means, methods and sources, while jeopardizing real security officials. How does that not jeopardize America's national security?

We are telling al-Qaida and others who would kill us en masse just what we won't do in the future. We are telling what they should train for, which isn't much, save for sitting them in lounge chairs, saying they have the right to an attorney

SOMEONE who was in on those briefings also leaked the use of these procedures to the New York Times.

I always figured the majority of National Security leaks we’ve seen have come from Jay Rockefeller and staff. Now I’m beginning to suspect that it may have come from someone else.

I agree 100%. Democrats always said of Bush appointees,” If they have nothing to hide go under oath”. They you go democrats. I wish Cheney would call for that!

Scooter Libby went to prison for the "outing" of a desk-jockey CIA agent

Your point is well taken but for the sake of accuracy Libby did not go to prison for "outing" anyone.

I don’t think Libby actually went to prison.

(But maybe he should have for using a name like “Scooter!”)

Scooter Libby was convicted of perjury because his recollection was different than that of Tim Russert whose friend and coworker at the WAPO Denis Collins was the foreman of the jury.

I’d just like to remind everyone that Fitzgerald knew who outed Plame on day one of his investigation, because Armitage confessed it on day one. He went on to spend a year and a half investigating someone he knew to be innocent until he could find something to accuse him of, which was the crime of disagreeing with Russert.

Libby was innocent, and Fitzgerald knew him to be innocent, and spent a year and a half trying to find something to pin on someone he knew to be innocent. That sounds like a crime to me.

What an idiot. She must know that she has made enemies and that there are many who work to protect her yet she disrespects those who work to protect us all.

It would be an ironic shame if a plot against her was discovered but, due to the actions of obama and her, the people who were supposed to protect her felt that their hands were tied and were unable to do their job properly.
