President Barack Obama talked to Sen. Arlen Specter at 10:32 this morning from the Oval Office, said Dems are "thrilled to have you," according to a White House aide.
President Obama heard the news of Sen. Arlen Specter's switch to the Democratic party when an aide passed a note during an economic briefing.

It’s about time.
Found on Fox Natin, but the story is on Politico.com
Hey 0b0z0 Spect fits right in with your group of bs artists as per my tagline.
Well, now that Specter has finally gone to the socialist camp, could we send Collins, Snowe, McCain (both John & Meghan), and Crist over there as well???
There are several that can just get out along with them. We really must have term limits and split up Washinton DC
Its not a sell out to declare a title to what you already are.
If he would just take McCain, Snowe and Collins with him.
The only question is: will he actually get his thirty pieces of silver? Will the Dems keep their promise not to contest him in the primary?
Obama!....It’s a thrill to give him to you!
Specter is a senior with a palace office - does he get to keep it?
Let the healing begin.
I think that this pretty much confirms the idiocy and demise of the Republican party at the national level. Their refusal to consider the liberal political views of candidates when they decide who to support in a primary has come home to roost.
Do you think it’s possible he’s doing this at the request of the GOP?
Specter boosted Obama’s ego even higher than it needs to be. Unfortunately, Obama’s grand plans need to come down a little closer to earth, but that’s not going to happen when he truly believes that a very strong majority of Americans support everything he does.
“That’s just another xxxx democrat that needs to be unseated at the next election. Admitting it makes him a more visible target.”
Toomey will have the luxury of avoiding having to go through a bloody primary — now he can hone his message for the PA electorate, because Pennsylvanians will vote... smartly... once.... they...
Oh, never mind.
“The only question is: will he actually get his thirty pieces of silver?”
Don’t know about that, because silver’s kind of expensive these days, but I hear tell he’ll get a nifty new squeaky toy and a shiny propeller hat.
Doorknob. Specter’s backside...
It would be hilarious to see him get beat in the PA Democratic primary.
A time to ex-Specter-ate!
'Way back in the dark ages, there was a commie Republican senator from Connecticut named Lowell Weicker. Bill Buckley (remember him?) theorized that it would be easiest to replace a commie Republican by first helping a liberal Democrat to defeat him, then working to defeat the liberal Democrat.
So ....
Bill Buckley supported the senatorial candidacy of a relatively unknown 'rat named Joe Lieberman. He dedicated a whole issue of "National Review" to the cause.
Guess what happened?
I wonder if the photo op of obama and specter flying around Lady Liberty on Air Force One will now surface?

GOOD RIDDANCE, I say. Toomey is coming for you, Specter.
Seems to me, many are also thrilled they have him.
Now, for the rest of the RINO’s to thrill B HO.
Left where he belongs.
Obammie, we’re thrilled too. Spector should have left the republicans a long time ago - he was so in bed with them. Bye-bye rhino - we can easily replace you with someone who has a clue what conservatives are really about!
Mexiflu, AF2 terrorizing NYC.....Nice timing Sphincter. Way to cover Ogabe’s backside. You senile depends-wearing SCUMBAG TOOL.
Let us not forget that Bush championed Specter in his last election. Should confirm how liberal the Bushes are. One needs to remind themselves about judging people by the company they keep. As much as Rumsfeld and Cheney look like practical, upright, upstanding Americans, they are in the Bush league working for a new world order. That is working for themselves on an international level and not for America
I doubt it. But I’m guessing that the RNC was seriously considering backing Toomey in the primary. Rick Santorum was asked about it this morning on the Bill Bennett show and he wouldn’t say.
That makes us even, we’re “thrilled” he’s with you too.
The List, ping
A Specter -
We do not need clowns in the Republican Party; We do not need your liberal positions anymore.
You are not a moderate, you are a liberal.
-Bil
As polarized as the parties are, how could anyone who actually belongs to one today join the other tomorrow? I could see going independent and maybe then the other side after a while but to make that kind of jump at once is obviously a selfish move just to try to stay in the Senate.
The funny thing is, Specter is a dead man walking and will lose in the General no matter what letter is after his name.
The Dems know this. They’ll use him for the next year or so and then oust him in a primary.
How many men do you know who use the word “thrilled”????
Not many men I know use “thrilled” but then I think BO got that part of his anatomy from his mother’s side... I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks BO is a pu**y.
I guess this is another of his “cool” thinks... the BOs just love being “cool”, so many he just should have said... wow Arlen, that’s cool!
Agreed...he is a liberal effete weenie and I bet he’s scared of his wife.
exactly, like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”...maybe we need to keep a watch on who’s getting served the Jesus Juice at the White house
“Obama will campaign and raise money for Specter’s re-election in Pennsylvania next year...”
WTF is going on in this country! We have entered bizarro world and I’m ready to detach from the process and unhook myself from the matrix.
“Toomey is coming for you, Specter.”
Up 20 or 30 points among a closed Republican primary electorate is one thing. Running against a Dem in an entire blue state of Republicans, Dems and Independents is another.
