Say It's Osama. What If He Won't Talk?
http://www.washingtonpost.com ^ | 04/26/09 | Michael Scheuer

Posted on 04/26/2009 6:32:37 PM PDT by BCrago66

In surprisingly good English, the captive quietly answers: 'Yes, all thanks to God, I do know when the mujaheddin will, with God's permission, detonate a nuclear weapon in the United States, and I also know how many and in which cities." Startled, the CIA interrogators quickly demand more detail. Smiling his trademark shy smile, the captive says nothing. Reporting the interrogation's results to the White House, the CIA director can only shrug when the president asks: "What can we do to make Osama bin Laden talk?"

Michael Scheuer is a whackjob, and part of the CIA leak campaign that damaged the Bush Presidency and the War on Terror. Also rabidly anti-Israel.

So it says something, that even this freak can see the damage that Obama has done to our national security, in his decisions to forswear coercive interrogation & release the interrogation memos.

"What can we do to make Osama bin Laden talk?"

I guess they can offer him and extra virgin or two? (Might be tough to find in DC, though).

Just finished reading it. Nice literary flair, all the more powerful because it reflects the truth, in the last paragraph.

“[H]is party’s left wing and the European pacifists it so admires. Both are incorrigibly anti-American...”

He just called the base of the Democratic Party incorrigibly anti-American. That’s absolutely correct, but the funny thing is this guy is likely a Democrat himself, and there are very few prominent Republicans who would dare make that statement in public. And if it came from a Republican, the Washington Post would be reluctant to print it.

What can we do to make Osama talk?

I have a suggestion that can't be considered torture because thousands of women voluntarily undergo this every year.

First we get some Brazilian beauty spa attendants and some hot wax. Then we get Osama ready for thong swimsuit season with a Full Brazilian. I guarantee if we bikini wax some of the high value gitmos we might get Osama's cell phone number and the gps coordinates of his summer cave. I'm just sayin'.

Scheuer lost me at the stupid “unqualified support of Israel” cliche. Otherwise, I don’t see this as an unlikely (certainly not impossible) scenario.

No, Bush wasn’t as bad as Scheuer makes him — at least not of Foreign Policy and war against terrorism. But if the policies of Obama play out, a Terrorist attack becomes likely — even probable. And we will have precious few weapons to prevent attacks from coming.

Think "Warren Buffett". He's the guy with the bucks in the Washington Post these days.

He thought his future was with the Leftwingtards because they like to kill babies ~ and he's going to leave all his money to a foundation that kills babies ~ but, it appears he's losing faith in them.

He's lost half his fortune to the Leftwingtards shenanigans and he's PI$$ED.

It's dollars to doughnuts ol' Warren himself ordered up that article.

He'll kill babies to get votes but not terrorists to keep the country safe.

That is because the killing of babies is more popular than the preservation and defense of the country.

Americans should be clear on what Obama has done. In a breathtaking display of self-righteousness and intellectual arrogance, the president told Americans that his personal beliefs are more important than protecting their country, their homes and their families.
Actually, we should be clear on what Obama has done and calling it his "personal beliefs" is a bit of a diversion. It probably is his "personal beliefs" but more importantly he's doing what the core of his supporters want him to do.

And that's what we should be clear on. It's not just Obama who wants to sell our country down the river, but a large plurality of our citizens.

If we're not clear on that, we've learned nothing from the disaster of the most recent election.

Sen. John McCain, a man who seems to have forgotten that as a presidential candidate he, more than anyone, persuaded Americans that the interrogation techniques amounted to torture and gloried in calling the CIA and its officers a "rogue institution."
Exactly. So to call this "Obama's personal belief" is silly. Our country is mentally ill -- in the R party almost as much as in the D party -- and we need to be clear about that and see that fact clearly.

“It’s not just Obama who wants to sell our country down the river, but a large plurality of our citizens.”

I hope with all my heart you’re wrong, because of not, that’s the end of the experiment called America.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics2/58_say_release_of_cia_memos_endangers_national_security

Rasmussen has a poll saying that 58% of America think that the memo release damaged national security, providing, I suppose, some basis for hope. But what that poll doesn’t measure is intensity of commitment, i.e., to what extent have the 58% really absorbed, in a concrete manner, just how dangerous the release was? And how strongly do they feel about it? And will they do anything about it, or will the next hopey-changey speech cause them to vote the Democratic slate in 2010?

You ask good questions and I think the answers are not intense enough, not deeply absorbed enough, still willing to vote rat next time.

I said “plurality”, I meant to say “large minority”.

30%-40% of our citizens want our country to fail.

This is a bad situation in so many ways, besides the obvious. The longer it goes on, the more they get people to chant for torture. Yeah, torture is a necessary tool in some extreme circumstances. But it's not a subject you want everyone excited about and demanding in general - even by implication. Our Constitution values chaining the government, not egging it on.

Just sayin.

There’s no prohibition in the US Constitution against torture of terrorist aliens.

Additionally, in many cases, it’s morally good to torture these people, because it’s necessary to save lives.

Law, schmaw. No patriotic American intelligence operative is going to squat on his haunches and let an American city get vaporized because the law says something or other. I guarantee you that whoever was leading the interrogation in such a case would take whatever steps were necessary to save a city or cities, and to hell with the consequences. “Is Pittsbugh still there?” “Yeah, Chief, they found it and deactivated it.” “Good. Now call the Langley police. I’m placing myself under arrest for violating the anti-torture law.”
