Hundreds of people took to the streets of Mogadishu on Sunday to show support for the Sharia enforcement passed by the Somali parliament.
The Somali parliament unanimously endorsed the Islamic Sharia on Saturday.
The demonstration which Banadir Administration organized took place in Stadium Konis in Mogadishu.
Government ministers and some lawmakers attended the rally and showed their support for yesterdays approval of the implantation of the Sharia by the parliament.
The demonstrators were carrying posters and portraits of president Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed. The minister for justice of the Somali government Sheik Abdirahman Janaqow who spoke to the demonstrators said all the people should support the government since it took the Islamic Shria.
The interior minister Sheik Abdulkadir Ali Omar who also spoke to the demonstrators called for the Somali clerics, clan elders, and the intellectuals to urge the society of practicing the Islamic Sharia.
In Beledweyen town in central Somalia, hundreds of people also gathered in the administration centre of Beledweyn in favor for the decision of the parliament.
Sheik Abdirahman Maow, the leader of the Islamic Courts Union in Beledweyen spoke to the people and told them the decision of the parliament would bring solution to the country.
The demonstrators were chanting slogans to support the implementation of the Islamic Law in Somalia.
