I'm sorry ... for an event this important ... work is NOT an excuse ... that IS part of the problem ... yes we conservatives usually have jobs to go to ... far less now however. BUT this was a time that work should have been on the back burner. If you are NOT willing to sacrifice just ONE day of work for something this important then you ARE part of the problem ... IMO

If there is a march on Washington I really think I will go..Let us know so we can make arrangements for our hotel rooms..It will be a great day if that happens since we could get everything stopped with the number of people that would go there..I am sure if it did happen old BO and his stoogies will be out of town and say they didn't see or hear about any Tea party..

I think the appropriate time to march in Washington would be Labor Day - YES, it’s a holiday but it would be symbolic. It seems we now labor only for the government anymore as we can keep very little of the fruit of our labor.

I have gone to protests DURING my lunch hour ... if only to show support. I too am out of work ... been since Oct. BUT had I been working, I know that I would have had a dental/medical/vacation day to burn ... the Sacramento tea party was three hours ... tell me that half a day of work is more important than this

Not everyone has time off or paid time off or even a boss that is decent. With tough times, many are just looking for a reason to “can” a person so try not to be so harsh.

I am a full-time college student and am wrapping up my semester. I wanted to go to the tea party desperately but it conflicted with my physics class and I can’t miss THAT class as I’m not smart enough. Also, we have labs every class and if you miss the lab, you can’t make it up.

If you don’t have such pressures, good for you. If they had done it on a Saturday, I could’ve made it but nobody can make every event every time. People do have children, sick parents, etc. etc. Get real, in other words.

I'm with you all the way. Funny thing is... this is the first time I actually got off my rump to do anything about things. I feel really good about this. DC should be scared. As stated last night on Hannity, the lefties are used to protesting. If five Code Pinkos get within a square mile of each other they can sniff each other out and start a protest in seconds, but conservatives just don't do things like this. The amount of people in the streets was amazing. I'm glad we are shaking off the rust. LET”S GET BUSY!

Jim, Henchster—Wonderful work! We need to send this to Rush, Hannity, Levin, Savage, The Heritage Foundation, Focus on the Family,FoxNews anchors,O’Reilly, Greta, etc. even the MSM(retch-excuse me). This needs to be the nes Monday morning.

This compilation is proof of what happened on Wednesday.

This number is much higher than anything reported so far.

I’ve heard that there is a Million Man Tea Party protest in DC on 9/12-9/13, when Congress returns from summer break.

We should have a FreeRepublic gathering so we can march together. This way DHS can film us all at one time.

Jim, that would be an echo of the March for Justice in 1998.
Time to make more history.

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The questing before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the world, to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies? No, sir, she has none. They are meant for us: they can be meant for no other. They are sent over to bind and rivet upon us those chains which the British ministry have been so long forging. And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain. Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication? What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted? Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves. Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming on. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament. Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult; our supplications have been disregarded; and we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne! In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free— if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending—if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained—we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us!

They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable—and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace— but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! The issue you two are addressing is one that our side never hits hard, ever. We should be incredibly enraged and justifiably bitter that while we work, the country gets stolen from us by freeloaders who don’t work, who therefore have the time to be politically active (generally funded by government programs or leftist contribution via a government program). You can say all you want, but someone who works their ass off all day doesn’t always have the time/energy to root out what’s going on. Thus, there is a huge advantage being taken by our opposition, who is stealing from us and undermining the country while we pay for everything. When the time comes to rile our side to the appropriate measures we’ll likely have to take, this must be pushed hard.

No - it’s a one shot class - one prof teaches THIS class and there is NO other comparable class. What you say it true for many but not this one. And I have done just what you have advised in other scenarios. In fact, I have a conflict with a final exam and am taking my exam in another class.

That’s exactly why I decided to say something. The time for using work or school or any other normal day reason for not attending something this important IS PAST. That is one of the major reasons that we are in the mess we are today ... because few on our side were willing to make even a small sacrifice ... like missing a half day at work ... for the cause. It made the other side think that we would not stand up for ourselves and embolden them ... and now you see the result.

I did get to the Atlanta Tea Party—because it was in the evening. Sorry, bucko—the higher ups frown on abandoning patients at health facilities. Lunch hours or breaks?—are you kidding? I suggest that to get out a higher attendance-(witness the Atlanta crowd)-hold them all after work—or possibly start them at 5:30 to disrupt rush hr.

Concur completely. We would have literally gotten off a hospital bed to participate in this critical turning point in our fight against the ongoing Socialization of our Republic.

Missing work is NO excuse for failing to do some serious heavy lifting at this most portentous moment in our National History.

Good idea - and the day has to have a name - and it needs to become an official holiday someday. We have to start somewhere.

Maybe in the fall - when the temps are bearable. I think you're on to something Citizen Tom Paine. Also the period costumes make us much less frightening to people who only know us as defined by liberals. It's a great touch.
