As for Gergen giggling...well Gergen is ignorant.

Gergen is one of those Bi-guys, as in Bi-Political. Willing to work for anyone (Clintoon and previously a Pubbie, but I can’t remember which one). So like one of Elliot Spitzer’s hookers, he’ll say whatever the person paying him wants him to say. So when on Anderson’s show, he’ll laugh at anything Anderson hangs in front of him.

The left can say what they want. I hope this gets more coverage and the people see what he meant by that terrible statement. Anderson...you should be ashamed. I gave you the benefit of the doubt for a long time. No more.

Several freepers tried to warn that this would inevitably happen when the teabag campaign first started.

"Several freepers tried to warn that this would inevitably happen when the teabag campaign first started".

The problem is how it quickly reverted to "tea bags" instead of expensive cases of bulk tea. And much of this reversion and watering it down to "tea bags came from those in the movement, albeit well meaning.

During the Boston Tea Party approximately 90,000 lbs of tea were dumped into the harbor. This is the approximate equivalent of $1,000,000 in today's dollars.

Cases, or more accurately "chests" of fine bulk tea are very expensive, even now they're not cheap. Dangling individual teabags is kinda cheesy. Anytime you "dangle" anything it can be turned into a sexual joke.

Do it right - or don't do it. A much bolder expression than "tea bag dangling" is needed. However "Tea Party" is the historical metaphor.

This is what happens when you try to do a movement on the cheap, or don't recreate history accurately.

Conservatives should know better. Still, its a movement, mocked or not.

Try to change the message to the historic message and symbolism of dumping of bulk tea cases and get away from the "I mailed tea bags to Senator so and so".

Unless we can turn it around and say "yeah, take that Lib, gonna tea bag ya some more biyatch" or that kind of thing. Which admittedly is immature - but look at who you are dealing with.

And I might add that dollar amount is on the low side other estimates put the value at nearly two million dollars.

45 tons of tea is a LOT of tea. It turned the harbor water brown for days.

The movement needs to come up with bigger, better bolder.

Hell, collect $1.00 from the 60 million people who voted against Obama and add several million more who are onboard for ideology - and it would buy a massive amount of tea that could then be dumped on the mall or something.

Something big and dramatic. Still non-violent protest.

Think what $20 from 60 million conservatives would buy?

$1,200,000,000 could buy enough friggin tea to bury the capitol or at least block access to it for awhile. Just sayin.

That amount would probably put a bit of a dent in the available world tea supply. It would actually suck up about 1/3 of the available world tea supply if I have my figures correct.

So, everyone buy stock in teas and...hehehe.

Go big will be the recovery and saving grace for next time to get rid of the piddly “tea baggin’” moniker.

100% agree.

These protests were a good start, as modern conservatives have no experience with either media savvy grassroots campaigns or actual gatherings and protests. We have jobs and families, and generally associate 'protesters' with hippies and communists.

That the MSM debased itself in its coverage is a good thing, too. It will open a lot of moderate conservatives' eyes to how stacked the deck is against them - and make them mad enough to move forward toward bigger things. The attitude now needs to be "trying laughing at THIS, a$$h*les..."

There needs to be some stout hearts ready for what is next. Like you, I advocate totally non-violent but very visible and symbolic protests. We need to walk a fine line and do things like you mention. Dumping tons of tea in front of the Capitol comes close to property damage. Once we grow a set and begin to walk that line, there will be a massive overreaction from the press and the government. Remember, the Justice Dept. under Clinton drove tanks through a church. The recent DHS report on 'right wingers' should remind us that Obama/Holder could be every bit as bad or worse than Clinton/Reno.

We need to be prepared and informed. Know your legal rights and the law. Keep a copy of your Constitution in your home and vehicle. We'll know when the media and government has received the message when the sex jokes stop and the crackdown begins.

There is some irony in all this. After watching Obama apologize to the bullies of the world, afraid to stand up to any of them. it occurs to me that he doesn’t have the “equipment” required to commit the act for which the MSM accuses us of.

“Hey, Obama, grow a set. And not for Anderson Cooper, but so you can stand up to the Axis of Evil.”

The presidency. Not exactly, but it would be more than both campaigns combined raised and spent in 2008.

Would reporting him and his MSNBC cohorts to the FCC do any good, especially in this administration.

I can't even begin to conceive what it means.

My only disgusted guess is it has something to do with tea-tea.

Don’t these people understand that while they certainly do have the right to act in deviant ways, others also have the right to be offended.

Who said people have the "right" to act in deviant ways, offending society?

It only recently used to be perfectly proper, expected, legal, and constitutional to outlaw deviancy.
