“Hardball” host Chris Matthews bandaged his bleeding heart on the MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program Friday, delivering a blistering critique of the Obama administration’s diplomatic overtures to Cuba.
“I just am not a Castro fan,” Matthews told host Joe Scarborough when asked about the administration’s “historic” opening to Cuba with the easing of travel restrictions.
“He bought the wrong ticket,” Matthews said of Castro. “He bet on Communism. He bet on the Soviet Union. If that side had won, he’d be marching down 5th Avenue overseeing the executions in Central Park. He made the wrong decision -- morally, historically, whatever. He’s on the wrong side of history. He ought to pay for it.”
One reason Matthews cited for his strong feelings: Cuba’s possible involvement in Lee Harvey Oswald’s assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Again, Teddy Kennedy just the other day got a Kennedy dog slipped into the White House without anyone holding it in quarantine for a month (or whatever the standard time limit is for bringing animals into the White House).

So does Chris Matthews now realize that he’s one of the proverbial “useful idiots” throughout history that have paved the way for despots and tyrants? I seriously doubt he gets it.
Castro would not have joined any conspiracy to assassinate Kennedy, as the usual list of conspirators wanted Castro dead more than they wanted Kennedy dead.
As evil as Castro was, and is, for his own clever, self surviving reasons, he would not have done this.

Notice Matthews doesn’t care whether Castro is condemned for moral reasons or for merely losing in an historical sense.
This confirms Matthews is lying, and his comments are made in order to position himself in a certain way—namely, that he might look less socialistic than as portrayed by his entire history.

Just reading the psychology of this thread...Chris Matthews is seen as a sympathetic figure in the conservative psyche—most of you call him by his first name and some even flirtatously add a “y” to his first name. I would go deeper into this, but I can’t spell any more of those neat sounding psychological terms.

Naw, Chrissy is just being play-tough on an issue that will pale when compared to Pres. Urkell’s backwards bend over in front of Venezuela’s Chavez.
