Two signed watercolours by Adolf Hitler are set to be sold later this month at auction in Nuremberg in southern Germany, scene of the Nazi war crimes trials, a local paper reported Thursday.

The two paintings -- entitled "Farmstead" and "Farm Buildings On The River" date from 1914 and would go under the hammer on April 25, the daily Nurnberger Abendzeitung said.

The bidding was due to start at 3,500 euros (4,600 dollars), according to a catalogue published by the Weidler auction house, which is putting the works up for sale.

I've often wondered how world history would have turned out if someone could take a time machine back to buy up his artwork. But the conditions of the world were such that some other scumbag would have exploted the situation.

There is never a shortage of a**holes hungry for power and never a shortage of media hacks willing to promote them in order to promote themselves. So it was then, so it is today.

Sorry, I just think it’s sick.
Why would you want the work of a monster?

No self-esteem movement in 1914.

All money should go to the Jewish Organizations and the artwork destroyed.

I could spare $5,000 or so each, and I'd bid if I thought there was any chance of them going for that price. It would be worth $10k or even $20k to burn them and remove one more vestige of that phase in the battle between freedom and socialism. We'll have enough new artifacts from the current flirtation with the socialist threat that we don't need the older relics too.

Compared to Andy Warhol and some others, he did have talent.

And to think... if the Vienna Academy of Art accepted him into their school, we may box to his art instead of recoil from his name. Very talented painter from what I can see.

That should’ve been “bow to his art.”

Godwin's Law:

As a FreeRepublic discussion involving Hitler's painting grows longer,
the probability of a picture of Bob Ross appearing approaches 1.

I would love to see ALL of the proceeds go to the surviving family members of these people - the people who resisted this beast all the way up to the moment they stepped into the guillotines of the Third Reich.

He couldn’t paint people, he was pretty good at objects and landscapes.
