The Arkansas Tea Parties for Central Arkansas went well today. Several organizations participated in the events. The meeting at the State Capitol had over 2,000 people attending and had most media outlets covering it. KeepArkansasLegal members attended and handed out information about illegal immigration. We also had an anti-amnesty banner. Afterwards, we went to the North Little Rock mailing facility and waved signs. Attached to this is a slideshow from both Tea Parties. Here are some news links below along with a description of how they covered the event:

Our local NBC affiliate KARK 4 -Kept partisanship as the main subject by claiming most of the people were Republican and of course the loaded Obama question. Also gave coverage to the half-dozen pro-taxes protest at the Little Rock mail office. We do need to remember Snyder's comments that he supports the Obama spending plan for 2010.

ABC affiliate KATV7-Did a better job but underestimated the numbers and could do would some better video.

CBS affiliate KTHV11-Best coverage from local TV. Several different people were interviewed and filmed. Only needed to mention that over 1,000 attended.

Fox16-Couldn't find any Tea Party coverage, only a story that announces them along with the pro-taxes event. On the same link, there's 3 photos of the Tea Party at the Capitol. Our local fox station has been shown to be liberal in the past, which is why they won't update the story or include video.
Arkansas Ping!
Illegal Immigration Ping!
It was great getting to compare the varying coverage.
Thanks for providing a very interesting thread.
BUMP!
I thought Channel 11 did a decent coverage piece in their 10pm news. I didn’t detect any bias. Too bad I couldn’t leave work from downtown until 5:30pm. By the time I got to the Capitol they had just finished and people were starting to disperse. I estimated the crowd around 2,000 from what I saw. People were well behaved, but vocal. It was encouraging to see that some folks are finally waking up. I hope this is just the beginning of a growing event.
Kudos to the organizers!
The media coverage was mediocre at best. KARK was more supportive of the “pro-tax” folks at the main post office in Little Rock... yet there was a tiny fraction of the people there as compared to the capital. A small handful of ACORN recruits with signs about tax fairness... Oh boy, I need to bite my tongue.
And a speaker at that socialist micro-event (nearly a non-event by the real numbers they didn’t have) was harping about rich folks hiding their money in offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes. Hello, maybe if the tax system was more “FAIR” as your own socialist idiots proudly were waving signs for - then maybe these “rich folks” wouldn’t feel the need to hide their money to protect themselves from insanely oppressive taxes. But how fair is it that the harder you work, the more jobs you create, and the more successful you are - the bigger bite (as a percentage) the government takes of it? Why is it that some folks get huge checks at tax time (after paying zero or nearly zero taxes)?
Robin Hood is not a good model for revitalizing our economy. It is a method of crushing capitalism. Anyone doubt that is the ultimate goal of 0bama and the left?
