Nice story, but consider this: It is a war zone and most all others have their game face on, living without their familes, and lets face it, missing their families terribly. Then they see this happy couple frolicking and doing whatever it is married folk do when sharing a tent. Makes for an interesting morale issue. . .for the troops.

Case in point: Gulf War I, my brigade had a HHC company commander that was married to an infantry company commander. They would arrange get-togethers and drive off for a little alone time. That didn’t go down well with the troops, as they were far away and in a war zone, their families without them, wives and girlfriends behind, and then they see an officer couple taking up house. Caused quite a stir among the troops, so much so, they were advised to knock it off.

War is not a family affair. War is not the place to play house. War is not peaceful and a night out camping. We keep forgetting that.
