Columbia (WLTX) - A man who tried to rob people at an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting is dead after being shot.
Columbia Police say a man in his late teens walked into the meeting at 2015 College Street, the Acoa Club, at 11 p.m. Saturday night with a gun.
They say he demanded two people empty their pockets. Thats when police say a person with a concealed weapons permit shot the man in his chest.
He was taken to Palmetto Richland where he later died.
Witnesses tell officials that a handful of people were in the building at the time of the shooting.
So far, no charges have been filed.
....courage to change the things I can....
Excellent work
We think most of our problems are of our own making....
Yup wrong location to be terminally unique
My name is ‘Bob’ and I am an excellent shot...
See, a responsible gun owner is a hero. But for the Libturds out there, it's early yet.
The Article stated: “So far, no charges have been filed.”
Why the H would charges be filed? That is totally stupid writing.
Lesson: never p-— off an ex drunk!
That dumb kid never had a chance...
It just goes to prove that predators who rely on gun-free zones can be very suddenly disillusioned. Great work, one more reformed predator at minimal public expense. I sincerely hope that the shooter remembers to count his blessings that he and his friends are safe because he cared enough to stop the wolf at the door.
Is it illegal to shoot robbers at an AA meeting?
There are so many wack jobs and wingnuts out there now, that I carry everywhere I go including church.
Maybe he was blocking the coffee.
What a dumb place to rob.
AA meetings are full of people with little money and a whole lot of street smarts.
Hi Bob!
Nice to hear that the Waco Kid is staying with the program.
This fool certainly earned his dirt nap.
13th step in the program?
NO, NO, NO — this CANNOT be right.
In ABC News’ latest objective expose on guns (”If Only I Had a Gun”), 20/20 reporter Diane Sawyer proved conclusively that mere civilians with guns could not possibly prevent a mass shooting. Diane said that, in a mass shooting situation, someone with a concealed carry license would be so untrained, so nervous and shaking, and so out of it, that they would never be able to hit the mass shooter. By contrast, the mass shooter would be a highly trained marksman, would be calm and composed, and would hit his intended target each and every time.
So, I don’t know why you’re posting this since it can’t possibly be true.
What probably REALLY happened is that concealed carrier shot himself, but that the rest of the group here “subdued” the robber just in the nick of time.
Excellent!!
yep, AA members are SERIOUS about their sobriety, and anybody messing with that is liable to get hurt.
“Shooters.”
Lol. Thanks for sharing.
Gun owner lied on his purchase form and CC permit application about history of drug and alcohol abuse?
First things first!
I think that’s Step Number 13, isn’t it? If robbed while attending 12 Step Program, activate Step 13.
When I saw the headline, I envisioned a room full of men thinking “I didn’t give up alcohol to be robbed by some jerk at an AA meeting. If I wanted to be robbed, I’d have continued drinking.”
Good for the shooter. It’s a sad fact that due to litigation by ‘criminal-victims’ the gunman had to take the guy out. I hope he’s okay with it.
Seems to me that the application for a concealed weapon permit asks a question like: “Do you abuse alcohol or drugs?” In Virginia, at least. Would a recovering alcoholic run into trouble over this?

Best quote of the day...Congrats.
Diane Sawyer is a sorry excuse for a Journalist. I have not watched CBS,NBC or ABC News in decades. I thought she must have died of old age by now.
