When Somali pirates hijacked the U.S.-flagged Maersk Alabama this week and took 20 Americans hostage, President Barack Obama refused to comment. It seems that our new president is desperate to do everything he can to distance himself from his predecessor, which is why his team has launched a campaign to rebrand the War on Terror. The results are mystifying. "Overseas contingency operations" is the new name for the war, while "man-caused disasters" is a euphemism for terrorist attacks.

Open question. Either a liberal flake or a more devious leftist. It's hard to tell how much is just the lunacy of a liberal kook and how much something more disturbing. There is the Rev. Wright part, the William Ayers and Frank Marshall Davis stuff, and then the bowing to Saudi Arabia. He was in Europe dissing and apologizing for the United States. Then announcing the U.S. is not a Christian nation and now appears disengaged on a bunch of national security issues. A weakened United States will produce a more dangerous and unstable world. So is he just too stupid to understand that or so stuck in his own liberal ideology not to be able to see things clearly?

It's possible for someome to be so proud, arrogant, narcissistic, and pampered with a sense entitlement, that their ego is prevented from seeing reality. Hubris.

While the fate of Captain Richard Phillips is important, this act of terrorism and piracy is but one in a long history of such acts which will continue unless we eliminate the pirates and their support structures.

After this single incident is resolved, I would suggest we place about four guided missile destroyers about 50 miles off the coast of Somalia, then spend a week informing the people living along the coast that they have two options, move 20 miles inland by day 8 or die. The four guided missile destroyers would then cruise in an orbit taking out the infrastructure that supports the pirates and not limiting the strikes to their camps but also including the port infrastructure rendering the ports unusable for anything bigger than a fishing boat.

Since the pirates are using fast boats to attack and to seize cargo and other vessels and their crews and passengers, we would also keep ships in the region. Any fast ship that refused to stop and be boarded should be sunk immediately.

Raw force is all that these Mohametans understand.
