U.S. envoys met with Pakistani leaders on Tuesday to ensure that the $7.5 billion that President Obama plans to send their way over the next five years will be used to achieve common goals in the fight against extremism.

But according to a Pakistani newspaper, regional envoy Richard Holbrooke and Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen came up empty-handed and received a "rude shock" when a proposal for joint operations against al Qaeda and Taliban forces in the volatile tribal regions was rejected.

Senator Levin (D Michigan) said there was "ambivalent evidence" to suggest that Pakistan would rein in extremism to America's satisfaction.

Let me translate, Pakistan is going over to the Taliban. They have already given up the North West Province, might as well call it Talibastan. The Pakistani ISI created the taliban. Now they are reaping the whirlwind.

There are, seemingly, many failed states popping up all over the mid east. Yemen, Somolia, Pakistan, Afghanistan. Does anyone else see a pattern forming?

"... in which he said Pakistan would go after high-value targets on their own if the U.S. would hand over its drone technology and intelligence."

The Pakistanis should have demanded even more, like control of the US NAVY or Air Force. Maybe make America throw in a few states to boot such as Florida or New York. America's DemonRAT Party controlled government would be more than happy to pay this price to insure that America doesn't "offend" Pakistan.

Ahh..just send ‘em the money. I’m sure there is no need for preconditions on accepting it. Or does the one think Pakistan will be like the banks and GM. I’m sure they will put it to a good cause...

yeah right...

The POTUS will probably tell Holbrooke to give the 7.5 Bilioon $ and the drone technology to the Paki’s and claim he has won the war. The Dems skewered the Bush admin for giving the Pakis billions in return for a few HVT’s. We got a couple big fish, but the Pakis keep Osama, Mullah Omar, and Dr Zawahri safe, they are insurance policies to be cashed in if they are desperate enough.

They play a double game, with the ISI tipping off the big fish if we are getting close. Obama and his minions are too dumb to realize this. Another talk big, do nothing strategy is coming from the Messiah.

“The Pakistani ISI created the taliban.”

You are absolutely correct. They also created Al Qaeda. The ISI is the most powerful organization in Pakistan and has been since the CIA taught them how to do business in the late 70s and early 80s.

Without taking on the ISI and the Iranian Mullahs and their intelligence agencies, there is no real War on Terror (or Overseas Contingency Operations /puking). I was really let down by Bush on this fact after 9/11. He did a lot, maybe all he could get away with politically in this f’d up country, but the war on Afghanistan was nothing more than a dog and pony show. About a dozen A teams cleaned them out in a matter of a month. Any of them stupid enough to have stayed in country after 9/11 that is. I am convinced the selection of Iraq was a matter of convenience. Our military had been planning and gearing up for that war for a decade. I think Bush and his admin. decided that Iraq was the most politically expedient and justifiable way to strike at the Middle East (or at least that is what some of the Bush admin. thought up front. Boy, they thought wrong.)

The reaction of these buffoons doesn’t surprise me because Democrats are cocooned in their delusional world of us being the bad guys. Living in this country with liberals is to me like being handcuffed to a retarded suicidal maniac.

The ISI is running the show over there and anyone worth their salt knows it. The reality is we can’t share info with the ISI because it always ends up alerting the bad guys. They scram before we can kill them. Those in the formal government who disagree with the ISI are, well, lets just say they like to breathe. so they don’t balk The Pakis want some of our drones so they can learn how to counter them. And we will probably give them some like the idiots we have become.

Holbrooke is a total failure when it comes to diplomacy. If you watch CNN you would think he was Rasputin. Been to the former Yugoslavia lately...lol?

Levin actually strikes me as a fairly intelligent man, but when your daily grind involves working with scumbags 20hrs a day, well, you just kind of end up being an idiot scumbag yourself. You know, that ol’ sleep with dogs get fleas thing.

I fault the previous administration for not dealing directly and more aggressively with the ISI and its enablers in the Pakistan’s formal government. Even some of their generals are questionable in their loyalties imho. They produced ElBharedi, father of the Islamic bomb. Warizistan and Baluchistan has been their Cambodia since 9/11. This war will never end without shutting these havens down.

There are friendly elements in Pakistan, but not many of them are sincere outside of some Army generals and business men. Their religion is more important to them than their nation. They will shield their own. And we are trying to pay them for it. We are doomed.
