Lawmakers' Cuba concerns are misplaced
Miami Herald ^ | April 7, 2009 | MYRIAM MARQUEZ

In Havana, the seven Democrats visited the families of the prisoners and came away inspired....If only the group had met with even one prisoner of conscience or one of the wives, mothers, daughters or sisters of the 75 independent journalists, librarians and human-rights advocates imprisoned in Cuba's ''Black Spring'' of 2003... Or the seven could have traveled three hours from Havana to see the hunger-striking dissidents led by Jorge Luis ''Antúnez'' Garcia in Placetas. Or they could have asked to see Oscar Elias Biscet, a doctor serving 25 years in prison for following the peaceful resistance of Martin Luther King Jr.

Or what of the mothers of three young men who were tried in a day and killed the next by firing squad in 2003 for trying to hijack a ferry from Havana Harbor? ...But no.

Their angst was for the ''Five Heroes,'' as Cuba's controlled media calls the Cuban government spies captured in Miami, including one sentenced for conspiracy to murder the four Brothers to the Rescue pilots killed by Cuban fighter planes in 1996....Where's the justice in Cuba?

Certainly the Clueless Seven, led by Rep. Barbara Lee of California, didn't make a fuss about 50 years of the Castro brothers' rule, the human rights violations or the escalating and disproportionate number of black Cubans held behind bars. Indeed, Rep. Bobby Rush, a former Black Panther, could only show his empathy ''for the suffering of political prisoners,'' as he referred to the five spies.

Just once, I'd like to see a delegation of muckety-mucks see the real Cuba. Sure, talk with Tío Fidel, as three of the Clueless reportedly did during their trip that ended Tuesday. But also go see opposition members, feel their pain...

This is the same Castro who killed John Kennedy.

Not at all surprising to find the Congressional Black Caucus' most Leftwingtard members down there worshipping at his feet.

Barbara Lee is a disgrace to humanity. Not surprising that gangland Oakland and moonbat Berkeley keep sending her back to Congress.

I hadn’t thought of it that way, but yes, you are right. These “lawmakers” are disgracefully idiotic. Their constituents must be equally dim bulbs.

Ten years-twenty at most-the whole bunch of these people will be memory challenged about their little trip to see Fidel. There is nothing more humbling than truth and it will be too evident by then what the Castro regime actually is.

It sickens me that democrats have consistently embraced enemies of the U.S. over the years while viciously attacking anything conservative. It should be obvious even to the most uninformed that there sole agenda is the reshaping of our beloved Republic into a socialist/Marxist state. What is it going to take for true American Patriots to rise and claim our Constitutional right to cast off repressive Government and restore true representative Government? Perhaps a possible muslim with Marxist beliefs being elected President will...oh wait, that already happened. We're doomed!

The reason they want to make this country into a Marxist state is because they think they would be on top and in charge. For an interesting little read, check out the word “Nomenclatura” from back in the 1980s, for a description of how fair and equal the treatment of people living under Russian communism was. Then ponder the current White House and Congress.

Good. I am currently reading Shadow World by Robert Chandler. He writes that the USSR has for decades infiltrated most of our institutions with the goal (through their ‘useful idiots’)to change the hearts of Americans into embracing Marxism. It has worked. He does say that these useful idiots would be the first to go. Believing that they helped to create their socialist utopia, they would be shocked to find that their new master is a tyrant. F***ing idiots.

Nomenklatura: The Soviet Ruling Class, by Michael Voslensky (1984) Doubleday. ISBN 0385176570. I love the irony of the year it was published. All the newspapers were running stories on how wrong Orwell turned out to be. Too early to tell, if you asked me.
